County man arraigned in father-in-law’s shooting

[02/02/01] A county man was arraigned on an aggravated assault with extreme indifference charge Thursday after being indicted by Warren County grand jurors.
Garland Barnes, 24, 212 Wells Road, is accused of shooting his father-in-law, Charles Ross, on Oct. 27 on Wells Road.
Ross, 6150 Halls Ferry Road, was hospitalized for 21 days after being shot once in the stomach.
Barnes eluded capture until Oct. 30 when Vicksburg Police and the Warren County Sheriff’s Department found him in a home in Fairview Acres.
Barnes’ case is set to go to trial March 26.
Others arraigned by Warren County Circuit Court Judge Isadore Patrick Thursday were:
Casey Ray Harper, 22, 6112 Adamsville Road, Gibsonton, Fla., possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
Matthew Clay, 50, 6553 LBJ, Jackson, grand larceny.
Channing D. Hart, 30, 125 Eastover Drive, grand larceny and seven counts of vehicle burglary.
Allen Bryant, 40, 1511 First East St., possession of a weapon after a felony conviction.
DeWayne Jackson, 40, 1228 Second North St., two counts of uttering a forgery.
Gary Johnson, 25, 104 Kelly Circle, aggravated assault.
Alonzo Curtis Jr., 18, 111 Sherman Ave., two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Sam Simpson, 42, 726 Adams St., burglary of a business and grand larceny.
Caleb Erves, 42, 110 Sherman Ave., sale of a controlled substance.
LeTonya Smith, 22, P.O. Box 818, Port Gibson, felony bad check, three counts of uttering of a forgery and credit card fraud.
