Grambling snaps Alcorn’s home streak

[02/06/01] Grambling snapped Alcorn State’s home winning streak at 32 games, 76-74, Monday night. The Braves’ streak was the second-longest in the nation.
Keith Howell scored 17 points to the lead the Tigers (4-14, 4-7 SWAC). Paul Haynes and Randy Hymes both had 14 points ad 10 rebounds.
Marcus Fleming had 23 points and 13 rebounds for the Braves (8-12, 8-3 SWAC) while Tori Harris and Brian Jackson scored 17 apiece.
Grambling shot 48 percent from the field and Alcorn shot 46 percent.
Michigan State has the longest home winning streak in Division I with 41 straight.
Cherea Wood had 17 points and six assists to lead the Lady Braves over Grambling, 87-83. Kamrica Turk and Daisha Reed scored 12 and 11, respectively, for the Lady Braves (12-9, 9-2). Shrieka Evans scored 16 for the Lady Tigers (10-10, 6-5), who led 37-34 at the half.
