THORNTON KEYS SR.

CARY Thornton Keys Sr. died Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, at his home in Kalamazoo, Mich. He was 65.

Mr. Keys was born in Cary. He was retired from Moore Planting Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sheldon Keys and Jessie Mae Keys, and four brothers, Samuel Lindsey, Harvey Keys, Sheldon Keys Jr. and Dr. Stewart Keys.

He is survived by Frankie B. Adams of Kalamazoo, Mich.; three sons, Thornton Keys Jr. of Augusta, Tommy Keys of Mattawan, Mich., and Christopher Adams of Kalamazoo; three daughters, Carolyn Rene Keys and Deloris Keys, both of Onward and Gennifer Allen of Grand Rapids, Mich.; three stepsons, Luster Ray Adams of Grand Rapids, Eugene Adams of Saginaw, Mich., and Edward Leroy Adams of Mississippi; three stepdaughters, Eunice McCants of Kalamazoo, Christine Ekeagwu of Grand Rapids and Kathy Cole of Mississippi; seven brothers, Senore Lindsey, Johnny Joe Lindsey, Larry Keys, Leroy McDaniel and Michael Keys, all of Mississippi, Roosevelt Keys and Riley Keys, both of Illinois; a sister, Shirley Keys of Mississippi; 46 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and other relatives including his caregivers, Phyllis Rodgers and Clara Yancy.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Pleasant Grove M.B. Church in Fitler with the Rev. Eugene Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Cary Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

FANNIE M. RUSSELL

PORT GIBSON Fannie M. Russell died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at Claiborne County Nursing Home in Port Gibson. She was 94.

Mrs. Russell was born in Jefferson County and lived in Port Gibson. She was a member of Port Gibson United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Betty R. Simpson of Vicksburg; and a granddaughter, Tina Denise Simpson of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Wintergreen Cemetery in Port Gibson with the Rev. Ed Hightower officiating under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Charles Dobbs, Carl Boren, Jay Massey and Jerry Stutts.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ethan Porter, Dr. Roy Barnes and Henry Marx.

IZELL SMITH

LORMAN Izell “Bud” Smith died Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, at Mississippi State Veterans Hospital in Jackson. He was 77.

Mr. Smith was a retired steel worker. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Lorman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie M. Smith; his parents, Tip Smith and Viola Gaines; three brothers, Charlie Smith, Stiles Whitney and Gilbert Gaines; a sister, Rebecca White; and a grandson, Anthony Gunner.

He is survived by four sons, Izell Gunner of San Diego, Reginald Smith of San Francisco, Charlie Smith of Atlanta and Ricky Hill of St. Louis; three daughters, Johnnie Ruth Claiborne of Vicksburg, Genever Reed of Los Angeles and Annie Pearl Baldwin of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a sister, Ruby Lee Jackson of Natchez; a brother, Freddie Gaines of Fayette; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fellowship Baptist Church in Lorman with the Rev. Walter Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at Fellowship Cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home of Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 Friday night at the funeral home.

CLARA B. THOMPSON

Services for Clara B. Thompson were Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Clark officiating. Burial was at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Thompson died Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, at her daughter’s home in Richland. She was 82.

Mrs. Thompson and her husband were dairy farmers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Thompson.

She is survived by three daughters, Martha Mae Thompson of Richland and Mary Ann Gaines and Sandra Kay Culverhouse, both of Pearl; a brother, Lawrence B. Storey Jr. of Vicksburg; two sisters, Frances Lindigrin of Vicksburg and Mattie Mae Riley of Prentiss; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Elmer Keller, Darren Keller, Devin Keller, Michael Curtis, Gene Curtis and Stephen Gaines.

Honorary pallbearers were Stanley Porter, Bessie Childers, Grady Kowen, Jimmy Brogdon, Bobby Brogdon, David Gaines, James Gaines, Brandon Johnston, Otis Sanders and Leroy Sanders.

JAMES ALLEN WILLIAMS

Memorial services for James Allen Williams will be at noon Saturday at Traveler’s Rest M.B. Church with the Rev. Thomas Bernard officiating under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mr. Williams died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 39.

He was a member of Travelers Rest M.B. Church.

He is survived by a son, Alandrian Williams of Vicksburg; his mother, Evelyn Williams Jackson of Vicksburg; his grandfather, James A. Williams of Shelby; a brother, Terry L. Williams of Vicksburg; a sister, Angela M. Jackson of Vicksburg; his fiance, Tommie Robinson of Vicksburg; his maternal grandmother, Willie Mae Durrell of Vicksburg; and other relatives, including Elmer Durrell Jr., George Durrell and Patricia Durrell Hunt, all of Vicksburg.
