[02/20/01] Chris Middleton pitched 32/3 innings of shutout relief to secure a 4-3 Vicksburg High victory over St. Andrew’s (0-1) in the opener of the Forest Hill Tournament on Monday.

Middleton, a junior right-hander, allowed one hit and struck out three to earn the save. Mitchell Beauman (1-0) got the win, allowing three runs on three hits. He struck out seven.

J.J. Brown had an RBI triple, one of just three hits for the Gators (3-0).

Middleton added an RBI on a walk.

Vicksburg will meet Callaway on Friday at 4 p.m. at Forest Hill.
