[02/20/01] The body of a 9-year-old Tallulah child was found Monday morning about four hours after his family reported him missing, Madison Parish Investigator Chad Ezell said.

Nikolas Dakota Cox was found just after midnight in a small pool of water with the four-wheeler he had been riding on top of him, Ezell said.

“This is just a sad, sad situation that you hate to see,” Madison Parish Chief Criminal Deputy Sammie Byrd said.

Ezell said Nikolas had last been seen around 6 p.m. riding the four-wheeler near his home at Route 2 Box 39B.

“He was probably about 100 yards from his house when we found him,” Ezell said.

Police are speculating that Nikolas hit a bump while riding the four-wheeler and it flipped over, Ezell said.
