DAKOTA COX

TALLULAH Dakota Cox died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001. He was 9.

Dakota is survived by his parents, Gaylon and Deborah Cox of Tallulah; a half-sister, Heather Daniella Cox of Tallulah; his maternal grandmother, Billie Jean Sinclair of Cotton Valley, La.; maternal grandfather, Charles Posey of Minden, La.; paternal grandparents, Ellis LaDean and Joyce Marie Cox of Cotton Valley; maternal great-grandmother, Myrtle McCarty of Cotton Valley; and other relatives.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Tallulah Church of Christ under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Springhill, La.

JOSIE DAISY CUNNINGHAM

LEXINGTON, Ky. Josie Daisy Cunningham died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at Darby Square Nursing Home in Lexington, Ky. She was 95.

Born in Natchez, Mrs. Cunningham was the daughter of the late Stanton and Eunice Ophelia Stegall Weaver. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and a Gold Star Mother with the American Legion.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Weaver and Monroe Weaver; and a sister, Delia Tackett.

She is survived by her husband, Robert M. Cunningham, former fire chief with the Vicksburg Fire Department, of Lexington; a son Fred Cunningham of Lexington; a brother, Charles Weaver of Vicksburg; a grandson, Scot Cunningham of Lexington; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home in Lexington with the Rev. Fred Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Lexington.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service Friday at the funeral home.

EUGENE HOGAN

Eugene “Hook” Hogan died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 73.

Mr. Hogan was a retired food service worker with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emanuel Rose and Mary Shelton, and a sister, Verbon Lott.

Survivors include three sons, Eric Hogan, Kevin Hogan and Cedric Hogan, all of Tacoma, Wash.; two daughters, Lisa Hogan of Jackson and Bernita King of Detroit; four sisters, Margaret Allen and Earline Shorter, both of Vicksburg, and Florence Curtis and Velma Scott, both of Cleveland, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends, including Geneva Blackmon of Vicksburg.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

SUSIE WINSTON HUNTER

Services for Susie Winston Hunter were at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holly Grove M.B. Church with the Rev. Robert Miller officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hunter died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001, at her home. She was 89.

Mrs. Hunter was a homemaker and a member of Holly Grove M.B. Church, where she was on the mother board.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Voul Hunter; her parents, George and Rachel Winston; two brothers, I.L. Winston and Jim Winston; and two sisters, Laura Winston and Emma Winston.

She is survived by a son, John W. Hunter of Vicksburg; a brother, Buck Winston; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

EUGENE JACKSON JR.

JACKSON Eugene Jackson Jr. died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. He was 43.

Mr. Jackson was a chemist and an attorney. He was a 1978 graduate of Millsaps College, where he received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and German. He received his master’s degree in biology from Jackson State University and a juris doctor’s degree from the John F. Kennedy School of Law in California. He also held a doctorate in chemistry.

He is survived by his parents, Eugene and Joyce Flood Jackson, formerly of Vicksburg, of Jackson; two sisters, Valerie Lynnette Jackson of Jackson and Amy Anita Jackson Stampley of Mesquite, Texas; and his grandmother, Ollie Hargro of Oakland, Calif.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jackson. Burial will follow at Saron Cemetery in Durant under the direction of Lakeover Funeral Home of Jackson.

Visitation will be from 1 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
