ELEANOR JOLLY

MOORESVILLE, N.C. Eleanor Jolly died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Genesis Nursing Home in Mooresville, N.C. She was 93.

Mrs. Jolly was a retired employee of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Vicksburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert M. Jolly.

She is survived by a son, Herbert M. Jolly of Jackson; and a daughter, Helen Cates of Jackson; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Private services will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

EDWARD LYNN PHILLIPS

ROLLING FORK Edward Lynn Phillips died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 53.

Mr. Phillips was born in Grenada and was a resident of Rolling Fork. He was a 1966 graduate of Rolling Fork High School and attended Delta State University. He lived for several years in Gulfport, where he owned The Glass Gallery.

He is survived by a son, Bryce Phillips of Philadelphia; a daughter, Elizabeth Phillips of Oxford; his mother, Lois Phillips; a brother, Eugene Phillips of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; and other relatives including Sara Fenner of Atlanta, Mindy Phillips of Hattiesburg and Donald Phillips of Brandon.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cary Baptist Church in Cary with the Rev. Millard L. Caulder, Chuck Halford, Carl Barnes and Johnny Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.

Pallbearers will be Clark Secoy, David Spencer, Clyde Nichols Jr., Bill Hays, Sammy Bonds, Elton branch, Johnny Miller and Johnny French.

Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Cary Baptist Church.

MARTHA LILLIAN FRITZ TIDWELL

LEXINGTON Martha Lillian Fritz Tidwell died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at South Panola Community Hospital in Batesville. She was 95.

She was a homemaker and a member of First Methodist Church in Lexington.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Albert Fritz; and her mother, Mary Lillie Nabors.

She is survived by a son, J.M. Tidwell of Vicksburg; two daughters, Margaret Wigley of Batesville and Clara Robertson of Biloxi; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Services were at 2 p.m. Friday at Southern Funeral Home in Lexington with the Revs. Lorance Frost and Katherine Camp officiating. Burial followed at Odd Fellows Cemetery.

ELIZABETH WHITLEY

Elizabeth Whitley died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. She was 69.

Mrs. Whitley worked for many years as a pastry cook at Vicksburg High School and Redwood Elementary School. She was a member of Pleasant Valley M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George White and Willie Mae Clark White; a sister and a brother.

She is survived by her husband, Emmanuel Whitley, a stepson, Wali Aziz of Vicksburg; a stepdaughter, Claudette Williams of Clarksdale; a sister, Ruth Dale Miller of Vicksburg; two brothers, George White of Philadelphia, Pa., and R.T. White of Chicago; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and other relatives.

Robbins Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
