IDA LEE KENNEDY BIBBS

JONESTOWN Ida Lee Kennedy Bibbs died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001. She was 79.

Mrs. Bibbs was preceded in death by her husbands, Sam Kennedy and Fulton Bibbs; and a daughter, Sarah Louise.

She is survived by six daughters, Ida R. Robertson, Eva Farris, Izonia Kennedy, Ruby Bibbs and Willie Smith, all of Jonestown and Mae R. Busby of Sumner; two sons, Sammie Redell Kennedy of Sumner and Fulton Bibbs of Jonestown; 30 grandchildren including the Rev. Sammie Brown Jr. of Vicksburg, 50 great-grandchildren, 40 great-great-grandchildren and other relatives including Linny Nelson of Memphis and Henry Johnson of Jonestown.

Services were Saturday at Swan Lake Central Building in Jonestown with the Rev. Joe Ringo officiating. Woolf Funeral Home of Clarksdale had charge of the arrangements.

WILLIAM THOMAS BROWN

William Thomas Brown died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 70.

Mr. Brown was retired as a groundsman for Westbury College in New York. He was a member of Grove Street M.B. Church.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Grady Brown of Vicksburg; a brother, Dutch Sparks of Queens, N.Y.; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

ANDREW COSEY SR.

Andrew “Brock” Cosey Sr. died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at his home. He was 93.

Mr. Cosey was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg and a member of Morning Star M.B. Church. He retired as a groundskeeper for the Vicksburg Country Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Bell Cosey; his parents, Andrew and Lucinda Cosey; three sons, including Donny Cosey; two daughters, including Linda Faye Griffin; four brothers, including Frank Cosey and Hamp Cosey; and a sister.

He is survived by seven sons, Erwin Cosey Sr., Earl Cosey Sr. and Robert Reed, all of Vicksburg, Andrew Cosey Jr. and Otis Cosey of Dowagiac, Mich., Robert Cosey of Natchez and Samuel Howard of Lima, Ohio; eight daughters, Linda Garrett, Barbara Buckley, Debra Hawkins and Rosalie Carter, all of Vicksburg, Agnes Bacon and Maybelle Hill of Dowagiac, Mich., Lucille Starks of Milwaukee, Wis., and Dorothy Avance of South Bend, Ind.; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives including Patricia Simrall, Jimmy Simrall and Tommy Simrall.

Robbins Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

HEZEKIAH PINKNEY

UTICA Hezekiah Pinkney died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Jackson. He was 80.

Mr. Pinkney, a longtime resident of Utica, was a member and deacon at Clover Valley M.B. Church.

He is survived by a son, Roderik Brinkley of Vicksburg; a brother, Robert Pinkney of Vicksburg; three sisters, Alice Marie Curtis of Jackson, Annie Marie Pinkney of Vicksburg and Vennie Jackson of Utica; nieces; nephews, including Benjamin Herndell of Utica; and other relatives and friends, including Clara Daniel of Utica.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

MILDRED STEPHENSON

GLADEWATER, Texas Velva Mildred Rowe Stephenson died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001. She was 94.

Mrs. Stephenson was born in Colorado Springs, Colo. She lived in the Redwood community for a number of years. She moved to Gladewater, Texas, in 1940, and moved to her home in Longview in 1949.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Gomer Sneed and James W. Stephenson; two brothers, Quentin Rowe and Leo Rowe; a sister, Daisy Taulbee; and two sons, Leon Sneed and Laymon Sneed.

She is survived by two sisters, Lennie Fossett of Corcoran, Calif., and Clora Skinner of Colorado Springs; two brothers, J.D. Rowe of Framington, Mass., and Dale Rowe of Sacramento, Calif.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater with the Revs. Doug Pirtle, Alma Roberts and Glen Benefield officiating. Burial was at Gladewater Memorial Park.
