[02/28/01] Warren County had two of the top four goal keepers in the state, according to the Mississippi Association of Coaches.

St. Aloysius sophomore Andy Gough and Warren Central junior Courtney Hubert, both of whom served as walls for their teams, lead a contingent of 21 Warren County players picked for the elite teams.

Vicksburg High defender Kim Griffin and midfielder Courtney Chapman, who helped lead the Missy Gators to their fourth state championship in six years, were also first-team all-state picks on the girls’ Class 4A/5A team.

Gough was a first-team selection on the 1A/2A/3A squad, as were forward Michael Head and defender Michael Engle.

Warren Central’s Amie Jones made the second team as a defender, as did VHS’ Leanne Feibelman. Vicksburg’s Brandi Parker and Neely Nasif were second-team forwards, and defender Brandi Head and midfielder Michelle Beatty honorable mention picks.

On the boys’ all-state team, WC defender Daniel Sumerall was selected as a second-team defender and teammate Todd Monsour was a second-team midfielder. VHS’ Michael Thornton was picked as a second-team forward.

Vicksburg defender Kiger Sigh and midfielder Lane Campbell were honorable mention picks, as were WC midfielder Andy Hite and forward Ricky Pennington.

St. Al midfielders Blake Warnock and Patrick Sadler made honorable mention.
