ELIZABETH JAMES PARKMAN

SOUTHAVEN Elizabeth James Parkman, formerly of Vicksburg, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Baptist DeSoto Hospital. She was 85.

A retired school teacher, Mrs. Parkman had lived in Southaven for a number of years. She was a former member of Wesley Methodist Protestant Church in Vicksburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Ford Parkman.

She is survived by six sisters, Monez Loftiss of Memphis, Wilma Wright of Olive Branch, Bonnie Boling of Walls, Theresa Terry of Frankston, Texas, Lady Hazel of Germantown, Tenn., and Carolyn Rogers of Cordova, Tenn.; and four brothers, Howard James of Frankston, Robert James of Huntsville, Ala., Roger James of Mountain View, Ark., and Raymond James of Lake Cormorant, Miss.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Stephenson Chapel Memorial Cemetery in Southaven under the direction of Brantley Funeral Home.

HEZEKIAH PINKNEY

UTICA Services for Hezekiah Pinkney will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Clover Valley M.B. Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon Saturday until the service at the church.

Mr. Pinkney died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Jackson. He was 80.

Mr. Pinkney, a longtime resident of Utica, was a member and trustee at Clover Valley M.B. Church.

He is survived by a son, Roderik Brinkley of Vicksburg; a brother, Robert Pinkney of Vicksburg; three sisters, Alice Marie Curtis of Jackson, Annie Marie Pinkney of Vicksburg and Vennie Jackson of Utica; nieces; nephews, including Benjamin Herndell of Utica; and other relatives and friends, including Clara Daniel of Utica.

ARTHUR SCOTT

FAYETTE Arthur Scott died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Jefferson County Nursing Center in Fayette. He was 69.

Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Scott Sr. and Lucinda Scott; nine brothers; four sisters; and a grandson, Xavier Ry’kel Reed.

He is survived by eight daughters, Jennifer Patten, Christine Scott and Alicia Patten, all of Lorman, Carrie Scott and Danethra Patten, both of Fayette, Jenora Bender and Sheila Williams, both of Omaha, Neb., and LaWanda Harper of Belleville, Ill.; nine sons, Anthony Patten, George Patten, Charles Patten, Andrew Patten and Dewayne Patten, all of Lorman, Jessie Henry Scott and Randolph Scott, both of Denver, Colo., Arthur Lee Scott of Aurora, Colo., and Jerome Scott of Omaha; two sisters, Eva Whisonant of Fayette and Rosie Lee Williams of Muskegon, Mich.; a brother, Henry “Edd” Scott of Winfield, La.; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends, including Daisy Smith of Vicksburg and Dudley Davis of Lorman.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fellowship M.B. Church in Lorman with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Scott’s Memorial Cemetery in Lorman.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Port Gibson and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

EVA HALL WALTON

Services for Eva Hall “Mama Eva” Walton will be at noon Saturday at St. Luke Church of God in Christ with Anthony Norwood officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 until 8 p.m. Friday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Walton died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at Northshore Medical Center in Slidell, La. She was 83.

Born in Fayette, Mrs. Walton was a retired cafeteria worker with Vicksburg Public Schools. She was a member of St. Luke Church of God in Christ, where she was a mother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Walton Sr.; her parents, Robert Hall and Inez Humes Hall; two brothers, Johnny Hall and Henry Hall; and a son, Johnny Walton.

She is survived by five sons, Robert W. Walton and Samuel A. Walton, both of Vicksburg, Albert Walton Jr. of Baton Rouge and James B. Walton and Sterling Walton, both of Albion, Mich.; five daughters, Patricia Wiggins and Mary Helen Motley, both of Albion, and Mary Ann Murphy, Bertha L. Cruthirds and Carrie M. Cruthirds, all of Vicksburg; a sister, Sarah Deal of Chicago; 25 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives, including members of the Brown, Anderson, Harris, Humes and O’Neal families of Vicksburg.

ROSIE GREER WINDOM

NATCHEZ Rosie Greer Windom died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at Natchez Regional Medical Center. She was 56.

Mrs. Windom is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Greer of Natchez; six brothers, Jeff King and Nathaniel King, both of Pine Bluff, Ark., Willie King of Akron, Ohio, Arthur James King of Palo Alto, Calif., Robert King of El Paso, Texas, and Charles King of Oakland, Calif.; three sisters, Clara Mae McGriggs, Ruby Johnson and Audra King, all of Port Gibson; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends, including Mary Watson of Vicksburg and Berthenia King, Alice Patton, Christina Harris and Jessie King, all of Port Gibson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Central Church of Christ in Port Gibson with the Rev. Eugene Coney officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Christian Church Cemetery in Russum.

Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Friday with family hour from 7 until 8 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. and from 1 p.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

CLAYTON A. WOOLLEY

Clayton A. Woolley died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at his home in Clinton. He was 76.

Mr. Woolley was president of Woolley Brothers of Jackson and Baton Rouge. He was a native of Lincoln County and attended Loyd Star County School and Hinds Junior College. He served in Patton’s Third Army in World War II.

Mr. Woolley moved to Jackson in 1946 and began operating Woolley Brothers in 1948. He also raised cattle.

For 47 years he was a member of Parkway Baptist Church, serving as a deacon, usher and Sunday school member. He was a member of Capitol Masonic Lodge No. 600, the Wahabi Shriners and the Southern Upholstery Jobbers Association. He was a 32nd-degree Scottish Rite Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Malone Woolley; two daughters, Linda Woolley of Clinton and Rhonda Woolley Weeks of Vicksburg; a son, Clayton Randall Woolley of Caseyville, Miss.; two sisters, Eula W. Pierce of Jackson and Wessie W. Smith of Brookhaven; a brother, H.S. Woolley of Brookhaven; and three grandchildren.

Services were at 11 a.m. Thursday at Parkway Baptist Church in Clinton. Burial followed at Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home.
