[03/07/01] Marilyn Landers, in her first action of the year after sitting out with a shoulder problem, went 2-for-4 with two RBIs including a go-ahead single in the top of the fourth inning to help Warren Central to a 4-3 win at Cleveland on Tuesday.

Cookie Johnson and Anna Mitchell also had two hits apiece for WC (4-1), while Lauren Anderson struck out eight and pitched out of two bases-loaded jams.

Anderson also struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh to slam the door on Cleveland.

“I was real proud of our defense. Lauren got us out of some tough situations,” coach Lucy Young said.

With the score tied 2-2 in the top of the fourth, Landers singled to score Rebecca Chick and give the Lady Vikes a 3-2 lead. A Cleveland throwing error on the play allowed another run to score to make it 4-2.

WC is off until March 20, when it will travel to face Madison Central at 5 p.m.
