EASTER PERKINS FIFE

PATTISON Easter Perkins Fife died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 64.

Mrs. Fife was a native of Claiborne County and lived in Pattison most of her life.

Mrs. Fife was employed as a press operator with National Home Products in Port Gibson for 17 years, and was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Fife was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Fife; her parents, Same and Blanche Perkins; two sisters, Clara Scott and Myrtle Mathes; and two brothers, Rufus Perkins and John L. Perkins.

She is survived by her husband, R.J. Fife of Pattison; three daughters, Darlene King and Judy Shirey, both of Vicksburg, and Debbie Moore of Pattison; two sons, Ricky Fife of Fayette and Wade Fife of Vicksburg; a brother, George “Buster” Perkins of Denham Springs, La.; two sisters, Mary “Scrap” Baker of Port Gibson and Peggy Blackley of Reeves, La; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were Saturday at 11 a.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson with burial to follow in Fife Cemetery.

Pallbearers were William Smith, Chris Fife, Kramer Fife, Rick Fife, Robert Starnes, Billy Baker, Vern Bailey and Lamar Seo.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Anita Tribble, Avery Baker, Woodey Wigley, Frank Bailey, Louis McFatter, Mickey Bailey, Lamar Chambliss, the staff of the Vicksburg Clinic and the staff of Vicksburg Medical Center.

Memorials may be made to the Fife Cemetery, 3180 Pattison-Tillman Road, Port Gibson, MS 39150.

SARAH SCOTT

Sarah Scott died Friday, March 9, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 57.

Ms. Scott was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah Scott and Henry Spize; and a son, Stanley Spize.

She is survived by a son, Jerome Spize of Brandon; a daughter, Annette Scott Moore of Vicksburg; a brother, Slyvester Bailey of Chicago; a sister, Everlisa Northern of Vicksburg; a friend, Betty McDaniels of Vicksburg; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.

GENEVA SWEEZER

Funeral services for Geneva Sweezer were at 2 p.m. Sunday at Robbins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Williams officiating. Burial followed at Clover Valley Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Sweezer died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 75.

Mrs. Sweezer was a native of Warren County and a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Florence Erves Sweezer; and two sisters, Clora Lee Winston and Mary E. Burks.

Mrs. Sweezer is survived by a sister, Ethel Turner of Detroit; a niece, Sarah Williams of Vicksburg; a cousin, Carcenia Sander of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

ELNORA TAYLOR

Elnora Taylor died Friday, March 9, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 63.

Ms. Taylor was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and was a retired custodian with the Vicksburg Warren School District. She was also a seamstress.

Ms. Taylor was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Nora Taylor; a son, Danny Lee Taylor; and two brothers, Dan Pearson and Myles Lee Taylor.

She is survived by three sons, John Lee Taylor, Mack Charles Taylor and Nora Taylor, all of Vicksburg; three daughters, Mary Wilson, Louwanda Miles and Frankie Willliams, all of Vicksburg; a brother, Willie Taylor of Vicksburg; four sisters, Lena Mae Taylor, Nellie Taylor and Fannie B. Taylor, all of Vicksburg, and Callie Mae Taylor of Gary, Ind.; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous stepchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of the arrangements.

GERTRUDE DOUGHTY WILSON

MADISON Gertrude Doughty “Nana” Wilson died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at her daughter’s home in Madison. She was 92.

Born in Natchez, Mrs. Wilson was a former resident of Vicksburg. She was a member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry C. Wilson; and her parents, Stonewall and Lurie Doughty.

She is survived by a daughter, Gertrude “Poochie” Breithaupt of Madison; two grandchildren, Donna Breithaupt of Madison and Ray Breithaupt of Jackson; two great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday at Old Natchez Cemetery under the direction of Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home of Ridgeland.

VIRGINIA JANE WILSON

TALLULAH Virginia Jane Wilson died Friday, March 9, 2001, at Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah. She was 78.

Mrs. Wilson was a native of Wheelock, Texas, and had been a resident of Tallulah since 1955. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Tallulah.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace George Wilson.

She is survived by a son, Lane Wilson of Tallulah; two daughters, Sherion Merritt and Karen Sue Kirk, both of Tallulah; a sister, Nell Lyons of Seabrook, Texas; a brother, Aaron McNair of Tallulah; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services were at 2 p.m. Sunday at Alexander Cemetery in Wheelock under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.
