MARGARET “PEGGY” ALLEN

DETROIT n Margaret “Peggy” Allen died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at her home in Detroit. She was 65.

Ms. Allen was a member of Mt. Heroden Baptist Church and attended Wayne State University and the Detroit School of Business.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Louise Allen; her father, Ernest Allen, and three brothers, Archie Allen, Robert Thomas and Kenneth Thomas.

She is survived by seven sisters, including Sherrie Moran of Vicksburg, two brothers, and other relatives including Joe Victor Allen and Larry Van Allen Sr., both of Vicksburg.

Services were on Saturday, March 10, in Detroit.

JUSTIN MARTIN CHESLEK

Justin Martin Cheslek died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at his home in Hattiesburg. He was 20.

Mr. Cheslek was a 1999 graduate of Vicksburg High School where he lettered in soccer. He was a sophomore majoring in software engineering technology at the University of Southern Mississippi.

He was a Boy Scout, a kayak enthusiast and a member of the Mississippi Canoe and Kayak Club. He was a member of Hawkins United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Dr. Martin Decker.

He is survived by his parents, Gary and Linda Cheslek of Vicksburg; a brother, Joel Cheslek of Vicksburg; his brother and sister-in-law, Nathan and Tonya Cheslek of Jackson; a nephew, Austin Cheslek of Jackson; his maternal grandmother, Jeanne Decker of Grand Rapids, Mich.; his paternal grandparents, Charles and Sylvia Cheslek of Grand Rapids, and numerous other relatives.

Services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Hawkins United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mitchell Hedgepeth, pastor, officiating. Burial followed at Green Acres Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Cary Christian Center, Box 57, Cary, Miss. 39054.

Pallbearers were Ryan Stinson, Bill Fulcher, Allen Brent, Paul Watkins, Jarrod Clark and Collen Berger.

Honorary pallbearers were Jeffrey Stokes, Christopher Doezema and members of the I.H.S.S.

THOMAS D. RIVERS

Thomas D. Rivers died Friday, March 16, 2001, at his daughter’s home in Vicksburg. He was 84.

Mr. Rivers, a retired farmer, was a native of Sharkey County and had lived most of his life in Vicksburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; a daughter, Jessie Watson; a son, Robert Harry Rivers, and a grandson, Willie Frank Rivers Jr.

He is survived by four sons, Ernest Rivers and George Rivers, both of Vicksburg, Frank Rivers of New Orleans, and Billy Paul Rivers of Bolton; a daughter, Alice Parkerson of Vicksburg; three sisters, Reba Walker of Tchula, Alice Peden of Slaughter, Miss., and Doris Elliot of Birmingham, Ala.; 14 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday.

Pallbearers will be Shane Guthrie, Kevin Watson, Greg Watson, Robert Rivers, Tommy Parkerson and Jody Wooten.

BEATRICE RUSS ROGILLIO

Beatrice Russ Rogillio died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Sunbridge Healthcare of Decatur. She was 96.

Mrs. Rogillio, a granddaughter of the founder of Ruston, La., was born in Tallulah where she had been a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tallulah for 88 years.

She is survived by three daughters, Lolabe Furr of Bossier City, La., Mary Alice Wall of Farmerville, La., and Bay Naylor of Decatur; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Services were at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church of Tallulah with the Rev. Fred Fulton officiating. Burial followed at Silver Cross Garden of Memory.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Tallulah.

Pallbearers were her grandchildren.

ELLA ROLAND

Ella Roland died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 100.

Mrs. Roland was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist religion.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Georgia Hutto; her husband, Charles Roland; three brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Anne Roland of Vicksburg.

Services were at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hopewell Cemetery in Meadville, Miss.

GLADYS M. THOMPSON

Gladys M. Thompson died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 67.

Mrs. Thompson was a retired private duty nurse and a member of Jackson Street M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Moore Sr.; a son, Norris Lee Jones; and three brothers, Clyde Moore Sr., Richard Moore Jr. and Tyree Moore.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Thompson of Vicksburg; a son, James D. Jones of Vicksburg; a daughter, Jacqueline Jones of Vicksburg; her mother, Norine Walker Moore of Vicksburg; her granddaughter and caregiver, Nicole McGluster of Vicksburg, and other relatives.

CALVIN WILSON

JACKSONCalvin Wilson died Friday, March 16, 2001, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 21.

Mr. Wilson was a member of Triumph M.B. Church and was employed with Vicksburg Wood Works.

He is survived by his parents, Cynthia Wilson of Vicksburg and Daryl Cobbs Sr. of Los Angeles; his stepfather, Carl Younger of Vicksburg; five brothers, Carl Wilson, Corey Wilson, Christopher Wilson and Casey Younger, all of Vicksburg, and Daryl Cobbs Jr. of Detroit; and his paternal grandparents, Wade Cobbs of Los Angeles and Fallie Cobbs of Vicksburg.
