WALTER JAMES RUNYON JR.

Walter James “W.J.” Runyon Jr. died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson. He was 78.

Mr. Runyon was a Vicksburg businessman for many years, owning and operating W.J. Runyon & Son Inc., a road and street contractor and sand and gravel business. He was also a founder and chairman of the board of the Bank of Vicksburg. At the time of his death, Mr. Runyon was a resident of Clinton.

He is survived by his wife, Helga Runyon of Clinton; his son, Jens Runyon of Clinton; three daughters, Lyn R. Frazier of Vicksburg, Becky Bryan of Orange Beach, Ala., and Ann Carter of Jackson, and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Mississippi Kidney Foundation, Inc., 2640 River Hills Drive, Jackson, MS. 39205.

CALVIN WILSON

Services for Calvin Wilson will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Williams Funeral Service with the Rev. James Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Wilson died Friday, March 16, 2001. He was 21.

He was employed with Vicksburg Wood Works and was a member of Triumph M.B. Church.

He is survived by his parents, Cynthia Wilson of Vicksburg and Daryl Cobbs Sr. of Los Angeles; his stepfather, Carl Younger of Vicksburg; six brothers, Carl Wilson, Corey Wilson, Christopher Wilson, Casey Younger and DeShun Younger, all of Vicksburg, and Daryl Cobbs Jr. of Detroit; his maternal grandparents, the Rev. Flem and Lucinda Wilson, both of Vicksburg; his paternal grandparents, Wade Cobbs of Los Angeles and Fallie Cobbs of Vicksburg; and other relatives including the Wilson, Bailey, James, Powell, Younger, Hall, Brown, Chiplin and Cobbs families.
