Vikings stay on course, edge St. Al

Hunt Gilliland of Warren Central blasts an approach shot on the first hole at Vicksburg Country Club on Monday. The Vikings edged St. Aloysius by three strokes on the Flashes’ home course, 175 to 178. Gilliland led the 9-hole match with a 41, followed by Edward Russell’s 43 and Zach Richards’ 44. Matt Easterling’s 47 was the difference for WC, which was tied after the first three players came in. St. Al’s John Caldwell was the medalist with a 39 and Andy Amborn had a 41, but Beau and John Theobald finished at 48 and 50, respectively. (The Vicksburg Post/MELANIE DUNCAN)
