Services for Louise Bingham were at 9 a.m. Monday at Williams Funeral Service. Burial followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Bingham died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 54.

She was a member of the North Vicksburg Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and a bus driver for the Vicksburg-Warren School District.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Calvin and Emma Lucille Savage; two brothers, Melvin Savage and Sammie Savage; two sisters, Martha Savage Jones and Rosie Savage Ward.

She is survived by her husband, Johnnie Woods of Vicksburg; three sons, Patrick Bingham Jr. of North Ridge, Calif., Jonathan Dedontrez Woods and Gerald Jamaal Woods, both of Vicksburg; a daughter, Kendra Michelle Bingham of Vicksburg; three brothers, Albert Savage of Lima, Ohio, David Savage of Blue Hills, Miss., and Chester Savage of Tillman, Miss.; five sisters, Katie Savage and Mary Savage, both of Vicksburg, Jean Savage of Lima, Ohio, Mildred Savage and Seebell Savage, both of Blue Hill, Miss.; and other relatives and friends.

LEE ALLEN DENT

HATTIESBURG Lee Allen Dent died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at Wesley Medical Center. He was 80.

Mr. Dent is survived by his wife, Inez Dent of Hattiesburg; two sons, Charles Dent of Hattiesburg and Mitchell Dent of Vicksburg; four daughters, Theresa Dent of Itta Bena, Inez DeShields of Moss Point, Brenda Dent of Washington, D.C., and Gwendolyn Smith of Atlanta; three brothers, Perry Dent of Columbus, Ga., James Dent of Laurel, Miss., and Jessie Dent of College Park, Ga.; three sisters, Marie Cooley and Beatrice McLemore, both of Hattiesburg, and Rosetta Holloway of Moss Point; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were at 1 p.m. Monday at East Jerusalem Baptist Church in Hattiesburg. Burial followed at South Hill Cemetery in Hattiesburg.

PETER ANTHONY FRANCO

Services for Peter Anthony Franco were at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas McGing officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Franco died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at the Heritage House care facility. He was 93.

Mr. Franco was a lifelong resident of Warren County and a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. He owned and operated Pete’s Barber Shop in downtown Vicksburg for 68 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmella Marie Franco; his parents, Annie Miele and Michael Franco; and one brother, Michael Franco.

Mr. Franco is survived by two daughters, Dr. Vera Franco Dahm of Dayton, Ohio, and Anna Marie Franco of Richmond, Calif.; four brothers, John Franco, Raphael Franco, Joseph Franco and Paul Franco; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Pallbearers were Michael Franco III, Sammy Franco, Ray Franco, Gary Franco, Peter Franco, Jerry Boland, John Siebenand, J.B. Middleton and Louis Renaud.

ANDY L. HORTON

EDWARDS Services for Andy L. Horton were at 11 a.m. Monday at Old Oak Ridge M.B. Church. Burial followed at Henry Cemetery.

Mr. Horton died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at his home. He was 63.

Mr. Horton was retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Chicago. He was a veteran of the Army.

He is survived by his wife, Myra Christine Horton of Broadview, Ill.; one daughter, Eltrina Horton of Broadview; two brothers, Arthur Horton of Chicago and Charles Horton of Edwards; three sisters, JoAnna Eatmon of Chicago, Thelma McGregor of Edwards and Annie Allen of Vicksburg, one grandson; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.

LLOYD NEVELS JR.

Lloyd “Munch” Nevels Jr. died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 82.

Mr. Nevels was a native of Centerville, Miss., but spent most of his life in Vicksburg. He was a retired self-employed farmer and a member of Eagle Lake Baptist Church.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Lloyd Sr. and Kate Span Nevels; his wife, Mary Lou G. Nevels; two brothers, J.B. Nevels and Julio Nevels; and one sister, Mamie Nevels.

He is survived by three sons, Billy Nevels of Yazoo City, Perry Nevels and Richard Nevels, both of Vicksburg; eight daughters, Marie Erwin of Port Gibson, JoAnn Parker of Vicksburg, Dinna Simmons of Vicksburg, Gracie Dill of Atlanta, Annie Allison of Richland, Miss., Susie Marchie of Oak Grove, La., Virginia Carr of Vicksburg and Ruthie Nevels of Yazoo City; five brothers, Velton Nevels, Cecil Nevels, J.W. Nevels, Warren Nevels and Leon Nevels, all of Vicksburg; one sister, Maggie Bobb of Vicksburg; 25 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with Brother Bobby Anderson officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mr. Nevels’ grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Daniel Edney, Dr. Charles Marascalco, Paul Barrett and Hazel Nevels.
