BECKY RAY COLE

Becky Ray Cole died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Gulfport Memorial Hospital. She was 31.

Miss Cole had lived in Vicksburg most of her life and had been a Gulfport resident for the past two months. She graduated from Yale University and worked for Gulfport Anesthesia Service, DSA Perfusion LLC at Memorial Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Cole.

She is survived by her father, Kenneth Cole of Vicksburg; a sister, Pam Cole Curtis of French Camp; her fiance, Kevin Smith of Madison; a niece, Melanie Kay Curtis of French Camp; and a nephew, Michael Harold Curtis of French Camp.

Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Green Acres Memorial Park with Les Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

JOHN A. HOLLIDAY SR.

John A. Holliday Sr., died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at his residence in Jackson. He was 82.

Mr. Holliday was a native of Sharon, Miss., and had retired from the Waterways Experiment Station as an engineering technician with more than 40 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II and the Korean War.

He started sponsoring NASCAR racing in the early 1960s and had sponsored such drivers as Freddie Fryar, Terry LaBonte and Rick Crawford and his team won the All-Pro National Championship in 1983. He was also a semi-pro baseball payer in Vicksburg and Memphis.

Mr. Holliday was a member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John T. and Aubin Austin Holliday; two sisters, Stella Wedgeworth and Virginia Rounsaville; a brother, the Rev. James Holliday, and the mother of his children, Laura Holliday.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia K. Holliday of Jackson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marguerite and Jim Allen Kihneman of Shreveport and Linda and Gene Barrett of Jackson; a son and daughter-in-law, John A. and Lana Holliday Jr., of Gulfport; six grandchildren and other relatives.

Services were at 3 p.m. Sunday at Edwards Cemetery with the Revs. Geoffrey Joyner and David McIntosh officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Crawford Street United Methodist Church Building fund, 1408 Cherry St., Vicksburg, Miss., 39180.

Pallbearers were Marcus Bowers, Austin Barrett, Craig Holliday, David Barrett, Buddy Belarski and Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace.

Honorary Pallbearers were Thomas Henry, Buddy Whitaker, R.C. Thomas, Leon Henry, William Henry, Irma Howard Hinston and James Keen.
