MICHAEL L. ANDREWS

Michael L. Andrews died Monday, April 9, 2001, at River Oaks Hospital in Flowood. He was 42.

A native of Vicksburg who lived in Clinton, Mr. Andrews was a systems administrator for the CEAP project at Waterways Experiment Station, where he had been employed for 13 years. He was a graduate of Porters Chapel Academy and attended the University of Southern Mississippi.

For 18 years, Mr. Andrews was the saxophone player for The Chill, a Vicksburg-based rock n’ roll band.

He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Lee Andrews of Vicksburg; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Preston Mosely of Hattiesburg and Lewis Andrews of Raymond.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Russell Andrews of Clinton; his daughter, Danielle Andrews of Jackson; three sons, Airman Bobby Lewis Andrews of Corpus Chrissti, Texas, Pfc. Jonathan Michael Andrews of Camp Pendleton, Calif., and Steven Wayne Andrews of Clinton; his mother, Margaret Andrews of Vicksburg; two sisters, Sherry Andrews and Tammi Boone, both of Vicksburg; his grandmother, Thelma Andrews of Pearl; one grandchild, Orchid Berch of Jackson;and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Parkway Baptist Church in Clinton with Ken Anderson of Parkway Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service Wednesday at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home in Clinton.

ESTELLA CLAY

Estella Clay died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 97.

Mrs. Clay was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Clay.

She is survived by a niece, Georgia Boykins of Vicksburg.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

JUDY CUMMINGS

Judy Cummings died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at University Medical Center. She was 45.

A resident of Redwood, Mrs. Cummings was a secretary for Buford Construction. She was the first female firefighter in Mississippi certified in underwater rescue.

She was preceded in death by her father, Hunter Branning.

She is survived by her husband, Marion “Poncho” Cummings of Redwood; two daughters, Sabrina Albert of Vicksburg and Karen Westbrook Ray of Tallulah; a stepson, Marion H. Cummings II of Texas; a stepdaughter, Constance Jo Cummings of Louisiana; her mother, Marjorie Branning of Pearl; two sisters, Janice Prestage and Sally Branning Dufresne, both of Pearl; a brother, Mike Branning of Pearl; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5 until 9 p.m. Tuesday and from noon until the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Robert Earl Swilley, Michael Hasty, Greg Hasty, Bobby Thornton, Jeremy “Bubba” Cummings and Joe Adkins.

Honorary pallbearers will be Louis Hasty, Plezy Hasty, Johnny Adkins, Joseph Begley and Fred Cummings.
