ADA LEE KNOX

Services for Ada Lee Knox will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Springridge Baptist Church in Edwards. Burial will follow at Henry Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at the Williams Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the service Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Knox died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 82.
She was a homemaker and a member of Springridge Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Knox Sr.; her parents, Buel and Narsis Burks; five brothers, James Burks, Willie Burks Sr., Steve Burks Sr., Joe Burks and Ellis Burks Sr.; and two sisters, Mamie B. Hill and Florence B. Allen.
Survivors include five sons, Alfred J. Knox, Nick Knox and Willie Knox Jr., all of Milwaukee, Wis., Calvin J. Knox of Canton and Joe Knox of Edwards; six daughters, Minnie K. Walker of Shaw, Lois K. Finley of New Orleans, Rosie K. Randle of Indianola, Phalia K. Key of Inglewood, Calif., Patricia K. Cannon of Vicksburg and Karen K. Kinnard of Utica; a brother, J.W. Burks of Edwards; two sisters, Mattie B. Kelly of Utica and Rosie H. Lockett of Jackson; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives.
BOBBIE LUCILLE J. McGOWAN
EPPS, La. Bobbie Lucille J. McGowan died Saturday, April 7, 2001, in Louisiana. She was 67.
A resident of Epps, La., Mrs. McGowan was a homemaker.
He was preceded in death by her parents, Izola Cryerian and Simon Johnson.
She is survived by three sons, John McGowan Jr. and James McGowan, both of Tallulah, and Jerry McGowan of Milwaukee, Wis.; four daughters, Joreatha McGowan Clark, Jomarie McGowan and Debra McGowan, all of Tallulah, and Bertha McGowan of Greenville; a sister, Florence Roberts of Epps; four brothers, J.D. Johnson, Harold Johnson and Simon Johnson, all of Rockford, Ill., and Clyde Johnson of Tallulah; 25 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Pleasant No. 1 M.B. Church in Epps with the Rev. Leotis Drungo officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Epps under the direction of Tennant Funeral Home of Tallulah.
Pallbearers will be Henry H. “Hank” Dorsey Jr., Phillip Standfield, Leander Roberts, Charles Washington, Harold Clark and Earnest Roberts.
HUGH VAMPLE JR.
Hugh Vample Jr. died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at his home. He was 53.
Mr. Vample was Vietnam veteran and a member of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Q. Vample of Vicksburg; a son, Roosevelt Qualls of Vicksburg; five daughters, Kimberly Vample, Alice Vample, Alicia Vample, Jamie Qualls and LaShonda Qualls, all of Vicksburg; his parents, Hugh and Alice Vample Sr., of Lumberton, N.C.; two brothers, Cedric Vample and Larry Vample, both of Lumberton; five sisters, Carolyn Riley of New York, Phyllis Jones and Valene Satton, both of Fayetteville, N.C., and Ella Baker and Sabrina McCray, both of Lumberton; three grandchildren and other relatives.
