ROBERT A. BURGIN

La JOLLA, Calif. Robert A. Burgin died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at White Sands Nursing Home in La Jolla, Calif. He was 76.

Mr. Burgin was born in Rolling Fork and reared in Knoxville, Tenn. He was employed with the Department of Defense in Washington, D.C., and Albuquerque, N.M., for several years. He was a retired chairman and CEO of Leaseway Transportation Inc.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara S. Burgin.

He is survived by two sons, Christopher Michael Burgin of San Diego and Robert A. Burgin III of Wilson, N.Y.; a daughter, Sally Burgin Margolis of Richfield, Ohio; a sister, Martha Hutchison of Knoxville; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Tuesday at El Camino Memorial Park and Mortuaries in San Diego. Burial will follow.

Memorials may be made to Coast Vineyard, 5726 La Jolla Blvd., La Jolla, Calif. 92037.

ESTELLA CLAY

Services for Estella Clay will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Clay died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 97.

She was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Clay; her parents, Harvey Gibson Sr. and Diannah Bass Gibson; four brothers, Walter Gibson, Spencer Gibson, Claiborne Gibson and Harvey Gibson Jr.; five sisters, Phoebe Gibson, Olivia Hicks, Elnora Hicks, Pearlie Hudson and Isabelle Rogers.

She is survived by seven nieces, Georgia Boykins, Lucille Miller and Edna Claiborne, all of Vicksburg, Willie Martley, Pearlie Rogers and Irene Rogers, all of Los Angeles, and Susie Perkins of New York; a nephew, Melvin Gibson of Vicksburg; and other relatives including the Gibson, Boykins, Miller, Hicks, Pittman, Claiborne, Rogers, Nash and Franklin families, all of Vicksburg.

FLORENCE EDNA HILE

HOLLISTER Mo. Florence Edna Hile died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at her home in Hollister, Mo. She was 80.

Mrs. Hile was born in Anguilla. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Frances Sandifer Stevens; and a sister.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Love of Davis, Calif., and Butch Hile of Lenexa, Kan.; two daughters, Gay Moore of Vicksburg and Marian Hile of Hollister; two sisters, Dora Templeton and June Davis, both of Vicksburg; two brothers, Sonny Stevens and Gordon Stevens, both of Vicksburg; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson, Mo. Burial will be at a later date in Vicksburg.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

CHRISTY JARRETT

Christy Jarrett died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 25.

Miss Jarrett was a native of Helena, Ark. She lived in Vicksburg most of her life. She attended Vicksburg High School and was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Linda Kay and Glen R. Johnson, both of Vicksburg; a brother, Michael Johnson of Vicksburg; a sister, Crystal Johnson of Vicksburg; her maternal grandparents, Leon and Odel Jones, both of Vicksburg; and her paternal stepgrandmother, Nora Hafer of Biloxi.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Clemts officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service Monday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Vernon Martin, Daniel Jones, Chris Johnson, Donald Cummins, Greg Massey and Lee Hogue.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. George Habeeb, the nursing staff at Vicksburg Medical Center ICU and second floor and The Street Clinic.
