EVELYN TREGONING DIAMOND

Services for Evelyn Tregoning Diamond will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Church of the Holy Trinity, Episcopal, with the Rev. Clifton McInnis officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fisher-Riles Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Diamond died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 84.

A native of Attleboro, Mass., Mrs. Diamond was the daughter of the late Edgar and Frances Goodale Tregoning. She was a graduate of Wheaton College, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and was later employed by the college. She was a senior trust officer for the Bank of Boston. She was president of Kappa Delta Psi and the Tufts University Dental Auxiliary and she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Order of the Eastern Star. She was a cellist with the Ray Coniff Orchestra.

Mrs. Diamond was a founder of the Nottingham, N.H., Volunteer Ambulance Service. She was a member of the Melrose, Mass., Congregational Church and served as president of the Flower Guild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Ralph Baker Diamond.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan D. Johnston of Vicksburg; and her son-in-law, Dr. Hugh H. Johnston of New Gloucester, Maine.

Pallbearers will be Gene Allen, Dr. Jimmy Vessel, Jerry Beard, Landy Teller, Lee Davis Thames, Charles Watkins, Kenneth Hicks and S.J. Tuminello.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Lee Giffin, Dr. Michael Davis, Dr. Susan Chiarito, Dr. Carla Hewitt and the staff of Vicksburg Medical Center Intensive Care Unit.

MARSHALL HARRIS SR.

Marshall Harris Sr. died today, April 16, 2001, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. He was 54.

Mr. Harris was a retired truck driver with American Gas. He was a member of Shiloh M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Harris; his mother, Margaret Jones; and a sister, Willie Mae Jones.

Survivors include two sons, Marshall Harris Jr. of Vicksburg and Kevin Harris of Panola; four daughters, Shelia Smith and Shondra Bright, both of Vicksburg, Margarite Harris of Chicago and Carrie Harris of Panola; a sister, Phyllis Smith of Vicksburg; six grandchildren and other relatives including Bernice Harris, Benard Smith and the Gaskin, Jones, Kennedy, Cox and Harris families, all of Vicksburg.

MALINDA EATMON WASHINGTON

Malinda Eatmon Washington died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 79.

Mrs. Washington was a homemaker and a member of Springhill M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rose James; a son, Peter Alexander Washington; her father, Wiley Eatmon; her mother, Cora Funches; three brothers, Robert Eatmon, Jack Web and Joseph “Sam Funches” Taylor; and two sisters, Clara Brown and Ella Sanders.

Survivors include three sons, Willie Dickee Thomas, William Washington Jr. and Michael Washington, all of Vicksburg; three daughters, Mildred Harris, Josie Williams and Linda Washington, all of Vicksburg; a brother, Frank Scott of Vicksburg; nine grandchildren and other relatives.
