SHIRLEY MOODY CADE

Shirley Moody Cade died Monday, April 16, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 52.

Mrs. Cade was born in Hollandale and lived in Vicksburg most of her life. She was a graduate of Warren Central High School. She was employed at Ameristar Hotel as a switchboard operator and a member of Warrenton Independent Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jason Moody.

She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Cade of Vicksburg; a daughter, Stephanie Tadlock of Vicksburg; a stepson, Jason Cade of Vicksburg; a stepdaughter, Tiffany Cade of Vicksburg; her mother, Mary Moody of Vicksburg; a brother, John E. Moody of Jena, La.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Warrenton Independent Baptist Church with the Revs. Johnny Welborn, Roy Williams and Randy Graham officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until the service Wednesday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Steve Moody, Brian Moody, Jerry Morris, Scotty Dodson, Kent Huffty and Mark Grisom.

FLORENCE EDNA STEVENS HILE

Services for Florence Edna Stevens Hile were Tuesday at Green Acres Memorial Park with the Rev. Brian Ivy officiating. Burial followed at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Mrs. Hile died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at her home in Hollister, Mo. She was 80.

Born in Anguilla, she was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Frances Sandifer Stevens.

Survivors include a son, Butch Hile of Lenexa, Kan.; three daughters, Gay Moore of Vicksburg, Marian Hile of Hollister and Jerry Love of Davis, Calif.; two sisters, Dora Templeton and June Davis, both of Vicksburg; two brothers, Sonny Stevens and Gordon Stevens, both of Vicksburg; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

CHARLIE REED

PORT GIBSON Charlie Reed died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Jefferson County Hospital. He was 80.

Mr. Reed was a member of Morning star M.B. Church in Lorman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie B. Reed; his parents, Ben Reed and Allean McGloster-Reed; and two brothers, Will Reed and Aredus Reed.

Survivors include a daughter, Deborah McDonald of Fayette; three sons, Silbert Wilson, Charlie Wilson and Hal Wilson, all of Port Gibson; two sisters, Alice Davis and Laura Grayson, both of Milwaukee, Wis.; a brother, Jessie Reed of Russum; grandchildren and other relatives.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at East Mount Olive Baptist Church in Red Lick with the Revs. Larry Clark and Isaac Henderson officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and from noon until the service Thursday at the church.

LOUIS SMOTHERS JR.

Louis Smothers Jr. died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 65.

Mr. Smothers was the assistant manager of Contractor Lumber and Supply Co. He was a former member of Jackson Street Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Smothers Sr. and Ludie Mae Smothers.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Smothers of Vicksburg; five sons, Alvin Smothers, Robert Smothers and Louis Smothers III, all of Vicksburg, Douglas Smothers of Fort Bragg, N.C., and Steven Smothers of Fort Knox, Ky.; five daughters, Linda Hackett, Patricia Turner, Jennifer Ross, Audrey Smothers and Cathy Foster, all of Vicksburg; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.

MALINDA EATMON WASHINGTON

Services for Malinda Eatmon Washington will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Springhill M.B. Church with the Rev. Frank Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Washington died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 79.

Mrs. Washington was a homemaker and a member of Springhill M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rose James; a son, Peter Alexander Washington; her father, Wiley Eatmon; her mother, Cora Funches; three brothers, Robert Eatmon, Jack Web and Joseph “Sam Funches” Taylor; and two sisters, Clara Brown and Ella Sanders.

Survivors include her husband, William “Preacher” Washington Sr. of Vicksburg; three sons, Willie Dickee Thomas, William Washington Jr. and Michael Washington, all of Vicksburg; three daughters, Mildred Harris, Josie Williams and Linda Washington, all of Vicksburg; a brother, Frank Scott of Vicksburg; nine grandchildren and other relatives.
