MARY ELISE BALL

LORMAN Mary Elise “Mur” Ball died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 89.

Mrs. Ball was a retired postmaster of Lorman Post Office. She was a charter member of the Ole Miss Loyalty Foundation and a member of Fayette Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by two sons, John Jewell Ball of Vicksburg and Warren “Bo” Ball of New Orleans; a daughter, Katherine N. Ball of Lorman; a brother, Ed Noble of Lorman; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fayette Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Joe Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Fayette Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday at Mrs. Ball’s home, Melton Plantation.

LEONARD DEE

PORT GIBSON Leonard Dee died Monday, April 16, 2001, at University Medical Center. He was 54.

Mr. Dee was a member of Mercy Seat M.B. Church in Port Gibson. He was a former employee of the Michigan Department of Corrections.

He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Martha Alice Dee Williams and Solomon Williams; and two sons, Otis Johnson and Oliver Conway.

Survivors include six sons, Keith Cole of Lancaster, Calif., Alex Dee and Marlon Little, both of Port Gibson, Roderick Robinson of Toledo, Ohio, and Leonard Dee III and Darius Dee, both of Jackson; 10 daughters, Angela Brown of Boston, Tabatha Conway of Gary, Ind., Shareka Brinner Smith of Dallas, Shenise Dee and Dijah Dee, both of Jackson, and Bobbie Jefferson, Nicholle Young Rankin, Demetrius Blake, Felicia Dee and Martha Alice Dee, all of Port Gibson; two brothers, Dr. Cardell Williams and Oliver Williams, both of Port Gibson; four sisters, Doris Cason of Jackson, Mosie L. Piazza and Darlean Williams, both of Port Gibson, and Lillie Ruth King of Compton, Calif.; his grandmother, Mary Ellis Dee of Port Gibson; 27 grandchildren; friends; and other relatives, including Mose Ella Carpenter of Port Gibson.

ELI LEWIS JR.

ALBION, Mich. Eli Lewis Jr. died Friday, April 13, 2001, at Trillium Hospital in Albion, Mich. He was 79.

Mr. Lewis was born in Vicksburg. He was employed at Harvard Industries as a coremaker for more than 30 years. He served in the Navy during World War II and was the manager of the Albion merchants baseball league.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Clara Ann Armstrong; four brothers and a sister.

He is survived by four daughters Diane Byrd, Betty Moorer and Johnnie Mae Robinson, all of Albion, and Cybil Colenburg of Vicksburg; two sons, Danny L. Robinson of Jordan, Utah, and Johnny Robinson of Battle Creek, Mich.; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Grace Temple Church in Albion with Robert Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Albion Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be from noon until 8 p.m. Friday at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home in Albion.
