TYLER MICHAEL ROBERTS

Tyler Michael Roberts, infant son of Rebekah and Terry Roberts, died Friday, April 13, 2001, at Women’s Hospital in Baton Rouge.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Mike and Cindy Flowers of Vicksburg; his paternal grandmother, Dolores Cangelosi of Baton Rouge; his paternal grandfather, Kenneth Roberts of New Orleans; and other relatives.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at the Flowers Family Cemetery in Carlisle with the Rev. Sam Dunaway officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Fisher-Riles Funeral Home.

LOUIS SMOTHERS JR.

Services for Louis Smothers Jr. will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Rohelia Cemetery in Utica.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Smothers died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 65.

Mr. Smothers was the assistant manager of Contractor Lumber and Supply Co. He was a former member of Jackson Street Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Smothers Sr. and Ludie Mae Smothers.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Smothers of Vicksburg; five sons, Alvin Smothers, Robert Smothers and Louis Smothers III, all of Vicksburg, Douglas Smothers of Fort Bragg, N.C., and Steven Smothers of Fort Knox, Ky.; five daughters, Linda Hackett, Patricia Turner, Jennifer Ross, Audrey Smothers and Cathy Foster, all of Vicksburg; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

IVORY REE STAMEY

TALLULAH Ivory Ree Stamey died today, April 19, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 71.

Mrs. Stamey was a native of Myrtle and a member of Willow Bayou Baptist Church. She was a housewife and lived in Tallulah for 40 years.

She is survived by her husband, Samuel David Stamey Sr. of Tallulah; three sons, Samuel David Stamey Jr. of Paradise, Texas, Jimmie D. Stamey of Vicksburg and Charles Lee Stamey of Tallulah; two daughters, Martha Satchfield of Tallulah and Francis King of Richland; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Willow Bayou Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Gaston officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 7 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Tallulah.

CHARLES TOWNSEND JR.

Charles “Chuck” Townsend Jr. died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was 43.

Mr. Townsend was a Jackson native and had lived in Vicksburg for the past eight years. A graduate of Rebul Academy, he worked as a drill rig operator for the Vicksburg District Corps of Engineers for more than 22 years. He was a member of Edwards Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Michel Rowland Townsend of Vicksburg; two sons, Tyler Aubrey Townsend and Timothy Charles Townsend, both of Vicksburg; a daughter, Amber Charise Tucker of Vicksburg; his mother, Margie Sasser of Edwards; his father, Charles “Chick” Townsend Sr. of Jackson; two brothers, David Townsend of Raymond and Paul Townsend of Bolton; two sisters, Vicki Hudson of Houston, Texas, and Ann Farrell of Springfield, Mo.; his paternal grandmother, Lillie Mae Townsend of Clinton; his maternal grandmother, Anna Husbands of Clinton; one granddaughter, Kaylee Tucker of Vicksburg; and other relatives.

Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Chip Starnes officiating. Burial followed at Green Acres Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mickey Lee, Al Hitchcock, Jimmy Grey, Dexter Allen, Elastic Brown and Parker Bell.

Honorary pallbearers were Cecil Crosby, Von Mixon, J.R. Rowland Jr., Barry Beard and George Hall.
