Russell Wigley, 12, watches from a distance as Sid Ervin, a local beekeeper, rounds up a swarm of more than 5,000 honey bees discovered Thursday at Russell’s grandparents’ house in Bovina. Bees swarm primarily from March until May when part of a hive rests en route to another area. The weight of this swarm bent the top of the young 6-foot sapling to the ground. Ervin will add the swarm to his collection of 25 hives at his home where he hopes they will stay and produce honey. (The Vicksburg Post/C. TODD SHERMAN)
