JOE R. BENNETT
Joe R. “Pete” Bennett died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at his home. He was 69.
A native of Winona, Mr. Bennett was a longtime resident of Vicksburg. He served as a corporal in the Army and retired as owner and operator of Bennett Trucking.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Columbus Calloway and Annie Harris Bennett; four brothers; and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Bennett of Vicksburg; two daughters, Darlene Winningham of Vicksburg and Tina Winn of Graceville, Fla.; three stepchildren, Michael Winningham, Bradley Winningham and Kristi Nevels; a brother, James Bennett of Winona; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with Cary Talbot of the Church of the Latter-Day Saints officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ellis Johnson, Plezy Hasty, Allen Hughes, John Hendon, Rufus Hendon and Charles Hendon.
Honorary pallbearer will be Bud Thomas.
NOELLE EMBREE LEE FERRIS
Noelle Embree Lee Ferris died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at her home. She was 23.
A native of Vicksburg, Miss Ferris lived for 16 years in Gentry, Ark., where she graduated with honors in 1998 from Gentry High School and was a member of the National Junior Honor Society. She had returned to Vicksburg a year and a half ago and was studying commercial interior design at Mississippi College in Clinton. She was of the Episcopal faith.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Dr. Lucien Ferris; and her maternal great-grandmothers, Lottie Lee Robertson and Vivian Reed.
Miss Ferris is survived by her father, Mac Ferris of Vicksburg; her mother, Melody Reed Hughes of Gentry; a brother, Justin Ferris of Vicksburg; her paternal grandmother, Lois Street Ferris of Vicksburg; her maternal grandparents, William Penna and JoAnn Robertson Reed of Vicksburg; aunts; uncles; and cousins.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Clifton McInnis officiating.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. Friday until the service at the funeral home.

MARY ELLEN WARNER LEE
LORMAN Mary Ellen Warner Lee died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Natchez Regional Medical Center. She was 83.
Mrs. Lee was a member and mother of East Mount Olive Baptist Church in Red Lick. She was a member of the Heroines of Jericho and the Baptist Aid.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Warner and Hattie Brown Warner; a sister, Lucille Fredricks; and three brothers, George Edward Warner, William Warner and Wendell Warner.
She is survived by two sons, Samuel Hill of Phoenix, Ariz., and Melvin Lee of Jackson; six daughters, Dorothy Branham of Phoenix, Estella Davis of Chicago, Deloris Cooper of Dallas, Murrel Trevillion of LaPlace, La., and Lillie Dee and Carolyn Barnes, both of Lorman; a brother, Thomas Warner Jr. of Chicago; a sister, Ida Mae Dykes of Phoenix; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at East Mount Olive Baptist Church in Red Lick with the Rev. Isaac Henderson officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Port Gibson.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.
JAMES McKINLEY SR.
BOLTON James McKinley Sr. died Friday, April 27, 2001, at his home in Bolton. He was 96.
Mr. McKinley is survived by his wife, Edna McKinley of Bolton; five sons, James McKinley Jr. of Laurelton, N.Y., Willie E. McKinley of Jamaica, N.Y., Williams E. McKinley of Bolton and the Rev. Bernard McKinley and Alvin Ray McKinley, both of Clinton; seven daughters, Lula M. Brize of Champaign, Ill., Ruby McKinley and Anita Clay McKinley, both of Jamaica, N.Y., Etha McLaurin of Rosedale, N.Y., Reella McKinley of Piscataway, N.J., Mary A. Turner of Jonesburg, Ga., and Brenda Holcomb of Boynton Beach, Fla.; 30 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and other relatives, including L.C. Leach Sr.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Champion Hill M.B. Church in Edwards. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Lakeover Funeral Home of Jackson.
Visitation will be from 1 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
RUBY C. WADE MITCHELL
Services for Ruby C. Wade Mitchell will be at 1 p.m. Friday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with Robert Prater officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Mitchell died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 78.
Mrs. Mitchell was Ruby’s Hut restaurant owner and operator before retiring. She was a member of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Cora Campbell Wade; two brothers; Richard Wynn and Walter Wynn; and two sisters, Thelma Wade Harris and Carrie Lee Wade.
She is survived by her niece and caregiver, Cathy Prater of Woodville.
DONALD EUGENE TINGLE
Donald Eugene Tingle died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 69.
A native of Monroe, Mr. Tingle had lived in Vicksburg for most of his life. He was owner and operator of Tingleville Grocery Store. He retired from Waterways Experiment Station as an electronic technician. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 until 1952 and in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 until 1961. Mr. Tingle was a volunteer Deputy Sheriff with Warren County and a member of the V.F.W. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Walter and Ora Lee Stephens Tingle Sr.; five brothers, Alton Ray Tingle, Henry Walter Tingle Jr., Jackie Tingle, Billy Joe Tingle and James Allen Tingle; and two sisters, Johnnie Marie Murphy and Margie Lee Kowen.
Survivors include his wife, Nell Barnes Tingle of Vicksburg; two daughters, Jenny Marie Parker and Donna Lee Tingle, both of Vicksburg; four brothers, Leon Tingle of Gulfport, Charles L. Tingle Sr. of Baker, La., Fred N. Tingle of Covington, Ga., and Lewis Tingle of Vicksburg; a sister, Virginia Tingle Townsend of Vicksburg; and a grandson, Ferren Parker of Vicksburg.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be James Parker, Robby Tingle, Jeb Tingle, Leo Townsend, Carl Tingle and Frankie Kowen.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and members of the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.
