ISSAC NEWTON STRONG

SPRINGFIELD GARDEN, N.Y. Issac “Ike” Newton Strong died Thursday, April 19, 2001, at Silver Crest Nursing Home in Jamaica, N.Y. He was 81.

Mr. Strong was born in Vicksburg. He attended Campbell School. He joined the U.S. Army and transferred to the U.S. Air Force. He was a retired private investigator.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earice and Eunice Strong; three brothers, Earice Strong, Walter Strong and Melvin Strong; a sister, Abbie Strong; and his grandparents.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Peeples Strong of Springfield Garden, N.Y.; a son, Victor Newton Strong of Springfield Garden; two brothers, Dan Strong of Palm Coast, Fla., and Robert Strong of Gardena, Calif.; five sisters, Ollie Mae Strong, Robbie Lee Shorter, Annie Jane Strong and Agazine Jones, all of Vicksburg, and Eunice Turner of Los Angeles; a grandson, Damien Issac Strong of Springfield Garden; and other relatives, including Ernestine Husband, Mary Ingram and Hattie Pearl Strong, all of Vallejo, Calif., and Annie Bell Strong of Vicksburg.

Services were April 25 at Calvary Baptist Church in Jamaica, NY., with the Rev. Victor T. Hall Sr. officiating. Burial was at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, N.Y., under the direction of Cox Funeral Service of Hollis, N.Y.
