SHIRLEY BELLE PARKER CALLEN

JACKSON Shirley Belle Parker Callen died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at St. Dominic Jackson Memorial Hospital. She was 69.

A native of Vicksburg, Mrs. Callen was a retired English Literature teacher. She was a graduate of Redwood High School. She received her undergraduate degree from Millsaps College and her master’s degree from Tulane University. She taught at Thomastown High School, Millsaps College and Centenary College in Louisiana.

She is survived by a daughter, Susan Bishop of Pearl; a sister, Klare Lane of Jackson; a granddaughter, Cheri Bishop of Pearl; and a grandson, Ryan Bishop or Pearl.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mark Seepe Funeral Home and Crematorium in Jackson.

JESSIE CHIN

Services for Jessie Chin will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem M.B. Church. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at National Cemetery in Natchez.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the hour of the service at the church.

Mr. Chin died Monday, May 14, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 85.

Born in Grace, Mr. Chin had lived in Vicksburg most of his life. He was a retired farmer and veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Alice Chin.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Chin; a daughter, Danielle Chin of Vicksburg; a stepson, James O. Green of Vicksburg; five grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

MAGGIE ETHEL DOTSON

EDWARDS Maggie Ethel Dotson died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at her home in Edwards. She was 68.

Miss Dotson was a native of Edwards. She was a member of Morning Star M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Elease Anderson.

She is survived by two sons, Eddie Johnson Jr. and Timothy Hemphill, both of Jackson; a daughter, Debra McGee of Edwards; two brothers, Karl Dotson and John Dotson, both of St. Louis; five sisters, Rosie Reed and Alice Pearl Mayfield, both of Vicksburg, and Juanita Williams, Onita Williams and Ann Brown, all of California; and other relatives including Steve Hemphill of Chicago.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Morning Star M.B. Church in Edwards. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery in Edwards under the direction of Lakeover Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

SADIE LEE HARRIS

Services for Sadie Lee Harris will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the community chapel in Shelby with the Rev. Curtis Hooper officiating. Burial will follow at Shelby Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Service.

Mrs. Harris died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 43.

She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her husband, Tommy Harris of Shelby, Miss.; her parents, Ruthie Lee Britton of Shelby and Alfred Britton Sr. of Detroit; a son, Timothy Britton of Milwaukee; six daughters, Roselyn Britton, Adriane Harris and Pamela Bates, all of Milwaukee, Latrena Britton and Krystal Harris, both of Shelby, and La Kittia Britton of Madison, Wis.; four sisters, Essie Gary of Vicksburg, Ossie Mae Britton of Shelby, Jacqueline Britton of Los Angeles and Roselyn Britton of Sun Prairie, Wis.; four brothers, Edward Britton of Columbus, Ohio, Alfred Britton Jr. of Clarksdale, Glenn Britton of Shelby and Baron Britton of Madison; 18 grandchildren and other relatives.
