JEAN S. ANDERSON

Jean S. Anderson died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 57.

A lifelong resident of Warren County, Mrs. Anderson served as bookkeeper for the Warren County Tax Collector’s Office for more than 20 years until retiring in November.

She was a member of the Vicksburg Women’s Bowling Association, serving as associational secretary since 1991. She was a member of the Mississippi Women’s Bowling Association and had served on its board of directors since 1994. She was a member of Wilderness Baptist Church.

Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her parents, Frank L. and Della Brown Sadler, and a brother, Harold Clint Sadler.

Survivors include her husband, Jessie William Anderson Sr. of Vicksburg; a son, Jessie W. “Bill” Anderson Jr. of Vicksburg; two daughters, Joyce A. Thomas and Susan A. Trest, both of Vicksburg; one brother, Frank Sadler Jr. of Rosepine, La.; three sisters, Dorothy Barfield of Dallas, Mildred Pugh of Horn Lake and Erma Evans of Vicksburg; and seven grandchildren.

Fisher-Riles Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

SUSAN W. EMBRY

Susan W. Embry died Monday, May 21, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 62.

Mrs. Embry was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg. She was employed by the Vicksburg Clinic and Durst Drugs. She was a member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, B.C. “Doc” Embry; her parents, E.J. and Lyda Griffin Williams Jr.; and a brother, Sydney Williams.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Embry of Vicksburg and Jeff Embry of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two daughters, Peggy Anderson and Janet McMaster, both of Vicksburg; a brother, E.J. Embry III of Jackson; four grandchildren and other relatives including Macy Craft of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Geoffrey Joyner officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Derrington, Jack Cooper, Larry Montpelier, Joe Durst, Drue Randolph, Morgan Johnson and Billy Johnson.

MICHAEL TREVON HICKS

Services for Michael Trevon Hicks, infant son of John Michael Hicks Jr. and Shemeka Oliver, both of Vicksburg, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Service.

Michael died Friday, May 18, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Frank Oliver Jr.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandparents, Ronald and Dinah Davis of Vicksburg and John Hicks Sr. of Dallas; his maternal grandparents, Doris Oliver of Vicksburg, Pinkey Robinson of Brazoria, Texas; his paternal great-grandparents, Eugene and Linda A. Jackson of Vicksburg; his maternal great-grandmother, Alma Oliver of Brazoria; and other relatives.

JOSEPH FRANCIS HOSEMANN JR.

GAINESVILLE, Ga. Joseph Francis Hosemann Jr. died Monday, May 21, 2001, in Pine Oaks, Ga. He was 82.

A native of Vicksburg, he retired as a lieutenant colonel from the U.S. Army. During his 27 years in the military, he served in World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Gainesville where he taught Sunday school for a number of years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Nell Hosemann; a son, Jerry Hosemann; a brother, Edward Hosemann; and two sisters, Mary Thersia Tucker and Dorothy Field.

He is survived by three sons, Joseph F. Hosemann III of Dahlonega, Ga., Gary A. Hosemann of Gainesville and David R. Hosemann of Crumpton, S.C.; three sisters, Florence Bourn of Jefferson, La., Helen Walker of Vicksburg and Ernestine McBroon of Gainesville; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Gainesville with the Rev. Dean Bryant officiating under the direction of Little-Davenport Funeral Home in Gainesville. Burial with military honors followed at Alta Vista Cemetery.

DAVID LUCAS

Services for David Lucas will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holly Grove M.B. Church with the Rev. Robert Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at Williams Funeral Service.

Mr. Lucas died Friday, May 18, 2001, at Clinton Care Center. He was 81.

A retired self-employed carpenter, he was a member of Holly Grove M.B. Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jessie Lucas of Battle Creek, Mich.; a son, David Lucas Jr. of New York; a stepdaughter, Claudette F. Richmond of Battle Creek, Mich.; three brothers, Dan Lucas of Vicksburg, S.T. Lucas of Chicago and George Lucas of Port Gibson; a sister, Kate Turner of Milwaukee, Wis.; and other relatives including Eunice Brown of Vicksburg, Michael Clay of Houston, Texas, and Lenora Cameron of Jackson.
