JEAN S. ANDERSON

Services for Jean S. Anderson will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Wilderness Baptist Church with the Rev. A.J. Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home.

Mrs. Anderson died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 57.

A lifelong resident of Warren County, Mrs. Anderson served as bookkeeper for the Warren County Tax Collector’s Office for more than 20 years until retiring in November.

She was a member of the Vicksburg Women’s Bowling Association, serving as associational secretary since 1991. She was a member of the Mississippi Women’s Bowling Association and had served on its board of directors since 1994. She was a member of Wilderness Baptist Church.

Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her parents, Frank L. and Della Brown Sadler, and a brother, Harold Clint Sadler.

Survivors include her husband, Jessie William Anderson Sr. of Vicksburg; a son, Jessie W. “Bill” Anderson Jr. of Vicksburg; two daughters, Joyce A. Thomas and Susan A. Trest, both of Vicksburg; one brother, Frank Sadler Jr. of Rosepine, La.; three sisters, Dorothy Barfield of Dallas, Mildred Pugh of Horn Lake and Erma Evans of Vicksburg; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Danny Spain, Johnny Ray Lewis, Joe Robison, Wayne Sibley, J.D. Reese, Mike Dunaway, Glenn Conrad and Lynn Almand.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Baggett, Tommy Gentry, Bill Carsley, Cecil Langley and employees of the Warren County Tax Collectors Office.

WILLIE D.C. HATTEN

Willie D.C. Hatten died Saturday, May 19, 2001, at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville. He was 77.

Mr. Hatten was retired from the U.S. Army. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emma Roberson Hatten and Willie Hatten.

Survivors include four sons, Elijah Fountain of Vicksburg and Charles Fountain, Nehemiah Fountain and Herman Fountain, all of Chicago; three daughters, June Caldwell and Naomi Smith, both of Vicksburg, and Joyce Fountain of Great Neck, N.Y.; one sister; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends, including Mary Reed, Larry Butler, Betty Butler, Georgia Reed and Jack Reed.

HUEY E. HESLEP

ROLLING FORK Huey E. Heslep died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital in Rolling Fork. He was 69.

Mr. Heslep had lived in Rolling Fork for the past 44 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and member of First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lois Warnock Heslep of Rolling Fork; two daughters, Laura Patterson of Anguilla and Margaret Stubbs of Louisville, Ky.; one son, James Michael Huoni of Leland; and five grandchildren.

Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork with the Rev. Millard L. Caulder officiating. Burial followed at Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork.

Pallbearers were Bobby Sandifer, Allan Yelverton, Phillip Hester, Harvey Cockrell, Penley Sorrels, Ronald Hargrave and Tommy Weissinger.

Honorary pallbearers were Eldon Branch, Jimmy Walker, Lyle Bennett, Poe Price, Dr. Kurt Kooyer, Laurance Carter, Jimmy Dick Carter, Paul Grantham and Johnny Sanderford.

ANDREW LEE JENKINS SR.

Services for Andrew Lee Jenkins Sr. will be at noon Saturday at Pleasant Valley M.B. Church with the Rev. Alex Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service Saturday at the church.

Mr. Jenkins died Monday, May 21, 2001, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. He was 61.

Mr. Jenkins was a retired Anderson-Tully employee. He was a member of Pleasant Valley M.B. Church where he was on the board of trustees.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Dorothy Willis Jenkins; and a sister, Rosie Jenkins.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Williams Jenkins of Vicksburg; two sons, Andrew Lee Jenkins Jr. of the U.S. Army and Bradford Charles Jenkins of Vicksburg; two daughters, Nedra A. Jenkins Patton and Micaela Kia Jenkins, both of Jackson; three brothers, James Jenkins, Mack Jenkins and L.C. Jenkins, all of Vicksburg; nine sisters, Minerva Allen, Viola Dixon, Indiana Jenkins, Linda Smith, Josephine Robinson and Eliza McRunnel, all of Vicksburg, Dorothy Jenkins and Cora Lee Thurston, both of Chicago and Bertha Burks of Los Vegas; six grandchildren and other relatives, including Johnny Willis of Mount Olive, Cora Cook of Bogue Chitto and the Dease, Willis, Givens, Wiggins, Harris and Kelly families, all of Vicksburg.

HUSTON ERNEST MATHES

UTICA Huston Ernest Mathes died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at his daughter’s home in Utica. He was 93.

Mr. Mathes was a lifelong resident of Utica. He retired from the Hinds County Highway Department and was a retired farmer. He was a member of Utica Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Earl Mathes, and a son, Sidney “Red” Mathes.

Survivors include three daughters, Stella Ann Daniels of Terry, Lillie Mae Carraway of Utica and Betty Jean Womack of Natchez; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Utica Christian Church with the Rev. Nick Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Utica Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica.

Pallbearers will be Sidney Mathes Jr., Ernest Mathes, Wayne Mathes, Dennis Mathes, Ronnie Daniels, Steve Angle, Pat Womack and Oscar Thompkins.
