DAVID BELL ELLIOTT SR.

ST. JOSEPH, La. David Bell Elliott Sr. died Sunday, May 20, 2001, at Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro, He was 89.

Born in Houston, Texas, Mr. Elliott had lived in Tensas Parish for a number of years. He was a retired electrician.

Survivors include a son, David Bell Elliott Jr. of Hammond, La.; two daughters, Mary Louis Jackson of Houston, Texas, and Meredith Ethridge of Willis, Texas; a sister, Mary Ashton Elliott of Fredericksburg, Texas; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home of Tallulah.

WILLIE D.C. HATTEN

Services for Willie D.C. Hatten will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Williams Funeral Service with the Rev. R.L. Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hatten died Saturday, May 19, 2001, at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville. He was 77.

Mr. Hatten was retired from the U.S. Army. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emma Roberson Hatten and Willie Hatten; and Mary “May-bee” Fountain.

Survivors include four sons, Elijah Fountain of Vicksburg and Charles Fountain, Nehemiah Fountain and Herman Fountain, all of Chicago; three daughters, June Caldwell and Naomi Smith, both of Vicksburg, and Joyce Fountain of Great Neck, N.Y.; one sister; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends, including Mary Reed, Larry Butler, Betty Butler, Georgia Reed and Jack Reed.
