ROBERT LEE ALLEN

Robert Lee Allen died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at his home. He was 47.

A native of Camden, Ark., Mr. Allen had lived most of his life in Natchez and in Vicksburg for six years. A graduate of Natchez High School, he was a maintenance manager for C.N.V. Services for four years. He was a member of New Vision Worship Center.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Allen; and a brother, Randy Allen.

Survivors include his wife, Missy Allen of Vicksburg; a son, Christopher Lee Allen of Monroe; two daughters, Nona Leeann Allen and Melissa Carroll Turnage, both of Natchez; his mother, Johnette L. Allen of Washington; a sisters, Nona A. Skates of Bogue Chitto; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with Rick McAllister officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Eric Turnage, Dewayne Curtis, Ernie Whitehead, John Laughlin, Barry Skates and Chaz Davis.

MARY FLORENCE JOHNSON

Services for Mary Florence Johnson will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Mount Pilgrim M.B. Church with the Rev. Joseph Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday at Robbins Funeral Home and from noon until the service Sunday at the church.

Mrs. Johnson died Monday, May 28, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 86.

She was a member of Mount Pilgrim M.B. Church where she was on the mother board. She was also a Sunday school teacher and secretary. She had been employed at Vicksburg Laundry, The Glass Kitchen and Mercy Hospital. She was a member of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivory Johnson; a son, Ivory Johnson Jr.; a daughter, Rosemary Walker; a sister, Lucinda Hughes; a stepdaughter, Ethel Smith; and a grandson, Ivory Joe Walker.

She is survived by two daughters, Bessie O’Neal and Margaret Marshall, both of Vicksburg; two sons, Julius Johnson and Noah Johnson, both of Vicksburg; two sisters, Roberta Amos and Pearlie Walton, both of Vicksburg; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives.

KATIE MILLER

Services for Katie Miller will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at True Way Apostolic Church with Eddie Logan officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Service and from 10 a.m. until the service Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Miller died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 79.

Mrs. Miller retired in 1988 as a food-service worker for Cook County in Chicago. She was a member of True Way Holiness Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Smith Sr. and Lettie Smith; a sister, Lucrecia Ennis; and two brothers, James Smith Jr. and Claude Smith.

Survivors include her husband, Jesse Miller Sr. of Edwards; three sons, Jesse Miller Jr., Lee Miller and Mack Miller, all of Chicago; a daughter, Delner Louise Shorter of Edwards; two sisters, Mary Ann Whitley of the Ballground community and Maragret Chriss of Vicksburg; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and other relatives, including Steen Hill of Madison and Cindy Draper of Bolton, Flordia Smith and the Mayfield and Smith families.

LOUIS MASTER MITCHELL

Services for Louis Master “Shoe Shine Jack” Mitchell will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Pilgrim M.B. Church with the Rev. Roosevelt Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Brookhaven Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Service.

Mr. Mitchell died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 92.

He was a retired employee of the City of Vicksburg. He was a member of Mount Olive M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Mitchell; his parents, Simon Mitchell and Addie Mitchell; a sister, Dillie Smith; and a brother, Roosevelt Mitchell.

He is survived by four sons, Louis Mitchell Jr., Roosevelt Mitchell and Simon Mitchell, all of Vicksburg, and James Benard of Las Vegas; six daughters, Bobbie Thompson of New Jersey, Minnie Lee Rockhill, Bettye Ballard, Geneva Dixon, Willie Lee Mitchell and Loubertha Culkin, all of Vicksburg; 30 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives.
