Iola C. Smith died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at White County Medical Center in Des Arc, Ark. She was 83.

A retired Wal-Mart sales clerk, Mrs. Smith was a resident of Greenville for 60 years before moving to Des Arc. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Smith.

She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Stewart of Greenville, Helen Willingham of Mountain View, Ark., and Louise Driggers of Griffithville, Ark.; a son, Edward Randy Smith of Mandeville, La.; two sisters, Myrtle Wallace of Meadville and Mae Gomez of Baton Rouge; three brothers, Walter Coley of Edwards, Ray Coley of Ferriday, La., and Junior Coley of Monroe; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services were at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Vicksburg under the direction of Mortimer Funeral Home of Greenville.

ELLENA CUTRER WARD

Ellena Cutrer Ward died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson. She was 91.

Born in Magnolia, Mrs. Ward was a longtime resident of Vicksburg. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Colonial Dames. She was a graduate of Millsaps College. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmitt Ward.

She is survived by a son, Mitchell Emmitt Ward III of New York, N.Y.; a daughter, Mary Ellena Ward of Cat Harpin, Va.; a brother, George Winston Cutrer of Tylertown; a sister, Elizabeth Cutrer Pease of Durham, N.C.; and a grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Steve Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Wednesday until the hour of service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Hardy Warren, Gene Parker, James Pease, Francis Pease, Tom Barkdale, Wiltz Cutrer and Mac Ferris.

ADRIAN TRENT WILLETT

TALLULAH Adrian Trent Willett died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at his home in Tallulah. He was 47.

Born in Vicksburg, Mr. Willett lived most of his life in Tallulah. He attended Tallulah High School where he was a member of the football team and the National Honor Society. He was a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Monroe and received his law degree from LSU Law School in Baton Rouge.

He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society and Tallulah Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, August Hoffman Willett Jr. and Ann Preston Willett.

He is survived by four brothers, August H. Willett III of Easton, Pa., Palmer B. Willett and David C. Willett, both of Tallulah, and E. Dan Willett of Baton Rouge; a sister, Ann Willett Bounds of Texarkana, Ark.; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Tallulah Presbyterian Church with the Revs. John Rushing and Lauren Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.

EDITH MARY WILLIAMS

Edith Mary “Edie Mae” Williams died Monday, June 4, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 69.

A homemaker, Mrs. Williams was a member of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lee Taylor; her father, Willie Marshall; a sister, Gloria Williams; and two grandsons, Jeffery Blanton and Derrick Blanton.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary L. Marshall Calvin, Gloria J. Marshall Givens and Rosalind V. Williams, all of Vicksburg; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and other relatives, including Eddie Calvin Jr. and Benjamin Givens, both of Vicksburg.
