MATTIE C. DECKER

Mattie C. Decker died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 82.

Mrs. Decker was a native of Wesson and had lived in Vicksburg for the past 73 years. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Valley Dry Goods Co. for 28 years. She was a member of Northview Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reames P. Decker.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Barfield, Jerry Marshall and Bob Bryant.

WILLIE FONG

Willie Fong died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 48.

A native of Canton, China, he was the son of the late Wai Kwong. He came to the United States in 1977 and had lived in Vicksburg since. He and his brother established Sun Koon restaurant.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Fong of Vicksburg; a daughter, Helen Fong of Vicksburg; a son, Raymond Fong of Vicksburg; his mother, Woon Ngor Lee Fong of Vicksburg; his brother, See Fong of Vicksburg; and two sisters, Elaine Jong of Vicksburg and Tenny Lee of Hong Kong.

Fisher-Riles Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

MABLE JULIA GRANTHAM

CRYSTAL SPRINGS Mable Julia Grantham died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 88.

Mrs. Grantham was a member of First Baptist Church in Crystal Springs where she was a charter member of the Golden Choir and a member of Baptist Women Organizations.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl C. Grantham; and a son, Ronald Grantham.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Grantham of Horn Lake and Carey Grantham of Vicksburg; three daughters, Carline Ainsworth, Jean Lingle and Ann Greer, all of Crystal Springs; her sister, Fannie Phillips of Crystal Springs; 16 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Crystal Springs. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Stringer Funeral Home in Crystal Springs.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Golden Choir or First Baptist Church building fund, P.O. Box 609, Crystal Springs, Miss. 39059.

MAYO HOOVER JR.

Mayo Hoover Jr. died Wednesday June 6, 2001, at his home. He was 59.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, he had worked for Marathon-LeTourneau Co. as a heavy-equipment operator for over 35 years. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Mayo Hoover Sr.

He is survived by his mother, Gracie J. Hoover of Vicksburg; two sisters, Betty Payne of Orlando, Fla., and Neda Gretzinger of Vicksburg; two brothers, Tim Hoover and Harold Hoover, both of Vicksburg; and other relatives.

Fisher-Riles Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

JAMES MARSHALL

Services for James Marshall were at 11 a.m. Thursday at Robbins Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Brown officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Marshall died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. He was 75.

A native of Lorman, he was a carpenter/craftsman. He worked with his brother to build many homes and churches in and around Vicksburg for more than 50 years.

He was preceded in death by three sons and a sister.

He is survived a son, Nathaniel Johnson of Vicksburg; two daughters, Maggie German of Vicksburg, JoAnn Davis of Port Gibson; two brothers, David Marshall and Sellos Marshall, both of Vicksburg; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and other relatives.

ALMA MARTIN

Alma Martin died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 87.

A homemaker, Mrs. Martin was a member of Cool Spring M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Neacy Fox; two brothers, Oscar Fox and Bennie Fox; and three sisters, Daisy Williams, Josephine Bell and Maggie Redmond.

She is survived by her sister, Neacy Ella Brown of Chicago; nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Alma Taylor, Helen Bowman and Mary Alice Kearney, all of Vicksburg, Julia Carey, Daisy Bell and Barbara Cox, all of Chicago, Eddie Mae Jackson of Dallas, Odessa Rodgers of River Forest, Ill.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cool Spring M.B. Church with the Rev. Casey Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.
