LYDIA ELIZABETH HAWSEY

ST. JOSEPH Lydia Elizabeth Hawsey died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah. She was 84.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lester Hawsey Sr.; a daughter; two sisters; a brother; a grandson and a great-grandson.

Survivors include three sons, James Lester Hawsey Jr. of St. Joseph, Ronald William Hawsey of Winnsboro and Larry Paul Hawsey of Atlanta; two daughters, JoeAnn Henderson of Bastrop, La., and Elsie Walley of Tallulah; five sisters, Ina Lee Grammer of New Orleans, Julia Sorenson and Delma Cassaro, both of Bryan, Texas, Ruth Junot of Hammond, La., and Faye Albrecht of Reserve, La.; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services were at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph Baptist Church with the Rev. Kelly Clark and Dr. Ray Robbins officiating. Burial followed at Herringville Church Cemetery in Monticello.

Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah has charge of arrangments.

Pallbearers were Ernie Armstrong, Leroy McDaniel, Dunnie McDaniel, William Trevillion, Dale Ainsworth and Gus Francis.

LEE GRANT HUNT

Lee Grant “L.G.” Hunt died Friday, June 8, 2001, in Los Angeles. He was 76.

Mr. Hunt was retired from American Foundry and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Christina Hargrove, Vantee Turner and Martha Wells.

He is survived by three sons, Robert Hunt, Lee Grant Hunt Jr. and Patrick Hunt, all of Los Angeles; four daughters, Ora Hunt, Wanda Polite and Susie Hunt Gray, all of Los Angeles, and Ida Louise Allen of Metairie, La.; six brothers, Robert E. Hunt and Elijah “E.C.” Hunt, both of Vicksburg, Johnny Hunt of Utica and Eddie Hunt, Sherman Hunt and Charlie B. Hunt, all of Los Angeles; his sister, Virgie Hunt Baskerville of Los Angeles; eight grandchildren, a great-grandchild; and other relatives, including Rosie Lockett and Ernestine Brown, both of Jackson.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Baptist Church in Utica with the Rev. Charles Harper officiating. Burial will follow at Belmont Baptist Church Cemetery in Utica.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Service and from noon Saturday until the service at the church.

LOLA M. PRUITT

Lola M. Pruitt died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 74.

Mrs. Pruitt was a native of Zwolle, La., and had lived in Vicksburg since 1997. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Nettie Pearl Tyler Pearson; three brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Samuel L. Pruitt of Vicksburg; her son, Danny Pruitt of Anacoco, La.; three daughters, Shelia Baker of Leavenworth, Kan., Sherry Klein of Edwards and Sonya Stephens of Sulphur, La.; her sister, Dessie M. Litton of Leesville, La.; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Bayou Scie Methodist Church in Zwolle with Dr. Don Chellete and the Revs. Don Monk and Tommy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from noon Monday until the service at the church.

Meadows Funeral Home of Many, La., has charge of the arrangements.

MARY JANE RAY

SUNFLOWER Mary Jane Ray died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at her home in Sunflower. She was 64.

Mrs. Ray was a native of Alabama and lived in Rolling Fork for three years. She had lived in Sunflower for the past five years.

She is survived by her husband, Alvin M. Ray of Sunflower; nine sons, Alvin Ray Jr. of Slaughter, Miss., Mickey Ray of Dos Palos, Calif., Roger Ray of Metcalfe, Miss., Eddie Ray of Rome, Miss., Mike Ray of Shelby, Miss., Stevie Ray of Drew, Miss., Tracy Ray and Adam Ray, both of Sunflower, and Jamie Ray of Winstonville, Miss.; five daughters, Joann Salazar of Gunnison, Miss., Debbie Ray of Sunflower, Mary Ethridge of Rolling Fork, Nancy Jones of Leland and Reta Zeron of Doddsville, Miss.; two brothers, Karl Huskey of Shaw, Miss., and Eddie Huskey of Rolling Fork; five sisters, Jennie Varnes of Magee, Edith Downes and Elsie Bennett, both of Drew, Patsy Weeks of Cleveland and Susan Weeks of Sunflower; 41 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork with the Rev. Mike Summers officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Manuel Salazar, Billy Jones, Phillip Silva, Miguel Zeron, Jewel Ethridge, Steve Light, Leroy Jones and Orlando Zeron.

CHARLES SIAS

Charles Sias died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. He was 56.

Mr. Sias was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He attended Yazoo City Training Center and St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie D. and Lutheran Hudson Sias.

He is survived by five daughters, Kim Ferguson Sias of Vicksburg and Christine Sias, Leslie Sias, Patricia Sias and Rachel Sias, all of Gerthesburg, Md.; three grandchildren; and other relatives including Molier Hudson and Vivian Allen, both of Yazoo City, and Nathan Clemmons and Charles Clemmons, both of Memphis.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

PALMER BROOKS WILLETT

TALLULAH Palmer Brooks Willett died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at his home in Tallulah. He was 58.

Mr. Willett had lived most of his life in Tallulah. He graduated from Tallulah High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society, and from Northeast Louisiana State College in Monroe in 1965.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Tallulah, serving as a choir member and Sunday school teacher. He was also a member of Tallulah Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, August Hoffman Willett Jr. and Ann Palmer Willett, and a brother, A. Trent Willett.

Survivors include a sister, Ann Willett Bounds of Texarkana, Ark.; three brothers, David C. Willett of Tallulah, Dr. E. Dan Willett of Baton Rouge and August H. Willett III of Easton, Pa.; a niece; three nephews; and a great-nephew.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Tallulah Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.
