MARTHA KESTENBAUM

Martha Kestenbaum died Monday, June 18, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 85.

Mrs. Kestenbaum was a graduate of Mississippi State College for Women and taught elementary school in the Vicksburg public school system. She was a licensed guide for the U.S. Park Service where she conducted tours of the Vicksburg National Military park. She was a member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Kestenbaum.

She is survived by two nephews, Warren Asher Jr. of Washington, D.C., and Lee Asher of Dallas, Texas.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Geoffrey Joyner officiating under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Claiborne County Nursing Center, P.O. Box 1018, Port Gibson, MS 38150, or to a favorite charity.

DONNA LEE ISBELL LARSON

CALHOUN, La. Donna Lee Isbell Larson died Monday, June 18, 2001, at her home in Calhoun, La. She was 46.

Mrs. Larson was born in Little Rock, Ark., and had lived in Calhoun for 17 years. She was a retired captain in the U.S. Armed Forces, serving with the Army and Air Force. She was a graduate of North East University.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Ruth Isbell.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Alan Larson of Calhoun; her daughter, Dana Larson of West Monroe; her granddaughter, Melinda Larson of Calhoun; her father, Lebert S. Isbell Sr. of Tallulah; her sister, Susan Busby of West Monroe; two brothers, Stan Isbell and Ricky Isbell, both of Tallulah; and her grandmother, Hazel Thomas of Calhoun.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Tallulah with the Revs. Rodney Caselberry and John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

BRYAN D. THURSTON

Bryan D. Thurston died Monday, June 18, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 28.

Born in Tucson, Ariz., Mr. Thurston had lived in Vicksburg since 1985. He worked for Cummins Radiator Shop for a number of years and had been a welder for LeTourneau for the past three years.

A hunter and fisherman, he was a member of I-20 Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Thurston; a sister, Sherry Comans; and his grandmother, Ann Riggs.

Survivors include his wife, Jaime H. Thurston of Vicksburg; two daughters, Katelin Thurston and April Thurston, both of Vicksburg; a son, Bryson Thurston of Vicksburg; his mother, Deborah Riggs of Monroe, La.; his stepfather, Bubba Comans of Vicksburg; four brothers, Marcus Thurston, Marty Comans and Bobby Comans, all of Vicksburg, and Joshua Thurston of Jackson; a sister, Rachel Thurston of Jackson; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with Tony Lalli and the Rev. Mitchell Hedgepeth officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Thursday until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Scott Cothran, Patrick Deckard, James Carter, Mark Holland, Brook Carraway, Steve Coleman and John Carter.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.

AGNES GREEN WATKINS

Agnes Green Watkins died Monday, June 18, 2001, at Belmont Place Retirement Home for Women. She was 80.

Mrs. Watkins was a native of Dekalb County, Ala., and was a longtime resident of Richmond, Va., before moving to Vicksburg in November. She was employed as a driver license examiner for the State Department of Motor Vehicles in Virginia for over 25 years. She was a member of Enon United Methodist Church in Studley, Va.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charley Buford Watkins Sr.; a son, James Robert Watkins; her parents, Robert H. and Elizabeth Benefield Green; two brothers and a sister.

Survivors include two sons, Charles B. Watkins Jr. of Vicksburg and Michiel Irwin Watkins of Highland Springs, Va.; four brothers; two sisters; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Funeral Home in Moulton, Ala. Burial will follow at Landersville Church of Christ Cemetery in Landersville, Ala.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service Thursday at the funeral home.
