Passing storms knock out power

MDR Powerline Construction workers Stephen Epperson, right, and Lewis Hunt pull on a downed power line off Oak Ridge Road near Lake Forest subdivision Thursday after lightning struck the power line about 4 p.m. cutting it in three places. Lineman Jimmy Davis looks on from a bucket and lineman Ricky Broom can be seen above the roof of the truck. Cheryl Comans, customer service manager for Entergy, said 1,186 customers, mainly in the Oak Ridge Road area, were without power at the peak of two outages Thursday afternoon and night. Power also went out at Pemberton Square mall and near the Wal-Mart SuperCenter. She said Friday morning all power had been restored. (The Vicksburg Post/MELANIE DUNCAN)
