Services for Thomas W. “Son Tooma” Tooma will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethel A.M.E. Church with the Rev John W. Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Mr. Tooma died Monday, July 2, 2001, at his home. He was 83.
He was retired with the Mat Sinking Unit of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of American Legion Tyner-Ford Post 213, D.W. Simmons Brotherhood Relief Club, paragon lodge No. 7 F&AM, Heroines of Jericho and Eureka Temple Elks where he was past exalted ruler. He was also a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Tooma; and his father, Thomas W. Tooma Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Ada M. Johnson Tooma of Vicksburg; his brother, Milton Tooma of Vicksburg; his sister, Bertha Tooma of Louisville, Ky.; and other relatives.
ARETHA WILLIS
ROLLING FORK Aretha “Lil’ Sister” Willis died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital. She was 62.
A resident of Rolling Fork, Miss Willis was employed with South Delta School District for 22 years.
She is survived by three sons, Robert Willis of Los Angeles, Andrew Willis of Atlanta and David Willis of Gulfport; her daughter, Paulette Hart of Smyrna, Ga.; three brothers, Eugene Willis of Portage, Mich., Ardeen Willis Jr. and Rodger Willis, both of Dallas; eight sisters, Maretha Bell and Christine Jones, both of Pontiac, Mich., Thelma Willis, Geraldine Smith and Ruby Willis, all of Rolling Fork, Evelyn Watson of Houston, Texas, Diana Robbins of Vicksburg and Betty Smith of Anguilla; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Saturday at South Delta High School auditorium in Rolling Fork with Eddie Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Green Chapel Cemetery in Rolling Fork under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 7 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Rolling Fork.
