CEDRIC A. ARCHER

Services for Cedric A. Archer will be at 11 today at Oak Grove M.B. Church with the Rev. Douglas Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mr. Archer died from an accidental drowning Monday, July 9, 2001, in Hardy, Ark. He was 29.

A 1990 graduate of Vicksburg High School, Mr. Archer was a blackjack dealer with Horseshoe Casino in Tunica. He was a member of Greater Oak Grove M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his son, Corey Archer; and other relatives, including Henry Lyons Sr., Willie B. Lyons, James Archer and Maggie Archer.

Survivors include his mother, Alberta Archer Lyons of Vicksburg; his father, L.J. Lyons Sr. of Vicksburg; three brothers, James C. Archer, L.J. Lyons Jr. and Reginald T. Lyons, all of Vicksburg; and other relatives.

EDNA CANTWELL

DELHI, La. Edna Cantwell died Friday, July 13, 2001, at Richland Parish Hospital in Delhi. She was 98.

Born in Prentiss, Mrs. Cantwell was homemaker and a member of Herringville Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Q. Cantwell; three daughters, Myra Octavia Arledge, Nina Louise Prince and Norma Lee Cantwell; and other relatives, including the Rev. Billy Kirksey, Burin lee McVay and Peter S. Prince.

She is survived by three daughters, Alma Kirksey and Gayle Smith, both of West Monroe, and Agnes McVay of Delhi; 14 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other relatives, including Nolan Smith of West Monroe and H. Lee Arledge of Baton Rouge.

Services will be at 2 p.m Sunday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah with the Rev. Donnie Linson officiating. Burial will follow at Herringville Church Cemetery in Monticello.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

EVA MAE SCOTT WHISONANT

FAYETTE Eva Mae Scott Whisonant died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at her home in Fayette. She was 82.

Born in Jefferson County, Mrs. Whisonant was a retired licensed practical nurse at Michigan General Hospital. She was a member of Fellowship M.B. Church in Fayette.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Whisonant; a son, Sylvester Gaines Jr.; her parents, Willie and Lucinda Scott; a grandson, Glenn Arthur Hooker Jr.; and a granddaughter, Angelia Michelle Dorsey.

Survivors include two sons, McKinley Scott of Harriston and Glenn Arthur of Gary, Ind.; three daughters, Katherine Bailey of Lorman, Mary D. Jackson of Lorman and Delores Hooker Bussey of College Park, Ga.; her brother, Ed Henry Scott of Winfield, La.; her sister, Rosie Williams of Muskegon, Mich.; 23 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and other relatives, including Daisy Smith and Viola Scott, both of Vicksburg, and Mary Davis of Lorman.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Fellowship M.B. Church in Lorman with the Rev. Jesse Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Fellowship Cemetery in Lorman.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. today at Rollins Funeral Home in Fayette.
