JANE G. ANDERSON

BLUFF CITY, Tenn. Jane G. Anderson died Friday, July 20, 2001, at Johnson City Medical Center. She was 66.

A native of Briggsville, Wis., Mrs. Anderson lived in Vicksburg for several years before moving to Greenville, Tenn., in 1992. She had lived in Bluff City since 1996. She retired as director of Sisters of Mercy Home Health Care in Vicksburg. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Johnson City.

Survivors include her husband, Andy Anderson of Bluff City; her daughter, Debra Howard of Burleson, Texas; two sons, David Anderson of Clinton and Thomas Anderson of Bluff City; her sister, Betty Sidders of Whispering Pines, N.C.; six grandchildren and other relatives.

Services were July 22 in Johnson City under the direction of Morris-Baker Funeral Home.

HOWARD LEE GREEN

ROLLING FORK Howard Lee Green died Saturday, July 28, 2001. He was 45.

Mr. Green was a former resident of Rolling Fork.

He is survived by his mother, Mattie Dale Green of Jackson; six brothers, Johnny Green, Willie T. Green, Calvin B. Green and Gordon D. Green, all of Vicksburg, Larry Green of Rolling Fork and James Smith of Chicago; aunts; uncles; cousins; other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Mount Herald M.B. Church in Rolling Fork. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Rolling Fork under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.

CATHERINE L. HOFFMAN

Catherine L. Hoffman died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 86.

Born in Wilkerson County, Mrs. Hoffman was a graduate of the Natchez Sanitarium School of Nursing. She lived in Natchez until 1993 when she moved to Vicksburg. She retired in 1971 as an industrial nurse for International Paper in Natchez. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness.

She is survived by a daughter, Lydia H. Cook of Vicksburg; her brother, Alonzo Leake-Lake of Jackson, Texas; two sisters, Irene L. Reed of Crosby and Mary Bell Hoakman of Titusville, Fla.; and one grandson, Andrew Cook of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Tim Beard officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Natchez City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service Saturday at the funeral home.

SIDNEY MAE WOODS-BRANCH

Services for Sidney Mae Woods-Branch will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Travelers Rest M.B. Church with the Rev. Thomas Benard officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Service and from 1 p.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

Mrs. Woods-Branch died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 67.

She was a member of Travelers Rest M.B. Church. She retired as a food service worker at St. Francis Xavier Elementary and St. Aloysius High School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Smith and Mary Rankin; her stepfather, Nathaniel Rankin; a sister, Augusta Ross; and a brother, Samuel Rankin.

Survivors include her husband, Melvin Branch of Vicksburg; four sons, Stanley Woods and William Branch, both of Vicksburg, Joseph Branch of Vicksburg and Charles Woods of Bloomington, Ill.; four daughters, Lila Branch, Delores Hubbard, Vickie Humphrey and Cheylene Woods, all of Vicksburg; a brother, Will T. Rankin of Vicksburg; seven sisters, Jeanetta M. Glory of Chicago, Mary Ford of Fayette, Josetta Wilson of Greenville and Helen Thomas, Martha Knight, Alice Hayes and Vivian Banks, all of Vicksburg; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

PEGGY YVONNE WEST-WARREN

PORT GIBSON Peggy Yvonne West-Warren died Friday, July 27, 2001, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was 43.

Mrs. Warren is survived by her husband, Anthony Warren of Port Gibson; five sons, Quincy West, Eric West, Willie Lee Dotson Jr., Ranquille Dotson and Patrick Dotson, all of Port Gibson; her daughter, Destiny S. Warren of Port Gibson; her parents, Walter and Mattie West of Port Gibson; four brothers, Archie West, Willie Goods, Crystal West, all of Port Gibson, and Willie Crowner of Jackson; eight sisters, Johnnie Mae Thomas, Daisy L. West and Veronica N. West, all of Port Gibson, Stephanie M. West and Juanita Price, both of Jackson, Wanda Ellis of Clinton, Sharon Harris of Tupelo and Nortickle Hensworth-Weaver of Hawaii; seven grandchildren and other relatives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at A.W. Watson Elementary School with the Rev. R.L. Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Barnes Family Cemetery in Port Gibson under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until the service Saturday at the school.

WILLIAM WELLS

PORT GIBSON William Wells died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. He was 80.

Mr. Wells was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Wells; his parents, Richard Wells Jr. and Pearlie Wilson-Wells; a sister, Katie Mae Wells Trevillion; and a brother, Willie Man Wells.

He is survived by six sons, William Wells Jr. of Oakland, Calif., Willie James Wells and Boston Eugene Wells, both of Phoenix, Ariz., MacArthur Wells and Richard Wells, both of Los Angeles, and Herbert James Wells of Lenoir, N.C.; five daughters, Helen Doris Wells of Utica, Ida Wells of Los Angeles, Hillard Lee Wells of Fonana, Calif., Katya Yvonne Wells of Mount Holly, N.J., and Angel Lite Wells of Newark, N.J.; four sisters, Eva Louisville and Mary Lee Wells, both of Jackson, Pearlean Moore of Los Angeles, and Princess L. Gibson of Port Gibson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Forrest Grove Christian Church in Pattison with Willie Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the service Saturday at the church.
