BARBARA W. WEST

Barbara W. West died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at Tulane University Hospital in New Orleans. She was 61.

Born in Manchester, N.H., Mrs. West had lived in Clinton for the past 23 years. She was employed with Millsaps College as a cataloger for more than 19 years. She was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church where she was on the parish council.

She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Westhaver.

She is survived by two sons Jeffrey West of Vicksburg and Brian West of Thornton, Colo.; her mother, Marjorie Westhaver of Fort Myers, Fla.; her sister, Gail W. Newman of Morristown, Tenn.; three grandchildren and other relatives, including Lori West of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home and at 10:30 at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church with the Rev. Peter Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home. Trisagion prayers will be at 6:30.

Pallbearers will be Greg Thomas, Dobie Nosser, Elias Rantisi, Tom Henderson, Wayne Thornton and Jim Parks.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Haddad, Lee Thomas, Gene Underwood and George Tzotzolas.

Memorials may be made to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 2709 Washington St., Vicksburg, MS 39180.

ELIZABETH W. WILLIAMS

Elizabeth W. Williams died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 69.

Mrs. Williams was a homemaker. She was a member of Morning Star M.B. Church where she was on the Mother Board.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Colonel Williams Sr. and Celeste Johnson Williams; six brothers, Colonel Williams Jr., Mack Williams, Robert Williams, Simon Williams, Jack Williams and Wallace Williams; two sisters, Katherine Johnson and Castine Nash; and a daughter, Celeste W. Young.

Survivors include her husband, Wallace Williams Sr. of Vicksburg; three sons, Wallace Williams Jr. and Richard Williams, both of Wilmington, Del., and John Henry Giles of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; two daughters, Betty Williams of Wilmington and Janet W. Coger of Newark, Del.; a brother, Tommy Williams of Wilmington; two sisters, Daisy Williams of Niagara Falls and Annie Bell Harris of Vicksburg; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

EVELENA ZANDERS

Evelena Zanders died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at Belhaven Nursing Home in Jackson. She was 107.

A homemaker, Mrs. Zanders was a member of St. Paul M.B. Church in Bovina.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dossey Zanders; two daughters, Fannie Jones and Bertha Sanders; her parents, Doc and Fannie Baker; and a grandchild, Henry Mitchell.

She is survived by a son, Henry Winchester of Oakland, Calif.; a niece, Josie Meeks of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren, Otha V. Jones of Vicksburg, Hoskin Sanders of Newnan, Ga., Betty Harper and Sandra Jones, both of Jackson, and Doris Byrd, Ethel Jones and Alan K. Jones, all of Indianapolis; and cousins and other relatives, including members of the Meeks family of Vicksburg.
