SOPHIE ROZENIA BURKS GROSS

LORMAN Sophie Rozenia Burks Gross died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at Overton Park Health Care Center in Millington, Tenn. She was 71.

Mrs. Gross was a member of Mount Olive M.B. Church in Lorman and had retired as a dental assistant from Medgar Evers Health Care Center in Fayette.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie L. Gross Sr.

She is survived by three daughters, Marie Ransom of Millington and Gloria Jones and Sarah Wright, both of Memphis; a son, Charlie L. Gross Jr. of Vicksburg; three brothers, Henry Burks of Los Angeles, Milton Burks of Chicago and Alexander Burks of Saginaw, Mich.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olive M.B. Church with the Rev. Elijah Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Carbondale Cemetery in Lorman.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 today at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Port Gibson and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

ELIZABETH W. WILLIAMS

Elizabeth W. Williams died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 69.

Mrs. Williams was a member of Morning Star M.B. Church and on the mother board. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents, Colonel Williams Sr. and Celeste Johnson Williams; a daughter, Celeste W. Young; six brothers, Colonel Williams Jr., Mack Williams, Robert Williams, Simon Williams, Jack Williams and Wallace Williams; and two sisters, Katherine Johnson and Castine Nash.

She is survived by her husband, Wallace Williams of Vicksburg; three sons, Wallace Williams Jr. and Richard Williams, both of Wilmington Del., and John Henry Gilet of Niagra Falls, N.Y.; two daughters, Janet W. Coger of Newark, Del., and Betty Williams of Wilmington, Del.; one brother, Tommy Williams of Wilmington, Del.; two sisters, Daisy Williams of Niagra Falls and Annie Bell Harris of Vicksburg; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services for Mrs. Williams will be 1 p.m. Sunday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Raymond Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery.

EVELYN FAIN MULDROW MURPHY

TALLULAH Evelyn Fain Muldrow Murphy died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at her home in Tallulah. She was 82.

Mrs. Murphy was born in Glenwood, Ark., and had lived in Tallulah for 50 years. A housewife, she was a member of Tallulah Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Easley of Denham Springs, La., and Mary Alice Higgins of New Boston, Texas; one son, Robert Warren Murphy of Simms, Texas; one brother, Robert Warren Muldrow Jr. of Shell Knob, Mo.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tallulah Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Lauren Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.
