MARY LEE MARLEY DILLARD

Services for Mary Lee Marley Dillard will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert L. Miller Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Dillard died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 73.

Mrs. Dillard was retired. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Dillard; a brother, Arthur Marley; a sister, Virgie Havard; and her parents, Matthew and Grace Jones Marley.

She is survived by a daughter, Annie Marie Lee of Vicksburg; an adopted son, Carlos Desmond Wright of Vicksburg; two grandsons; four great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.

PATRICIA GAIL ELEDGE

TALLULAH Patricia Gail Eledge died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at Madison Parish Hospital. She was 54.

Mrs. Eledge was born in Maury County, Tenn., and had lived

most of her life in Tallulah. She was an assembler at API Outdoors in Tallulah.

Survivors include three sons, Wayne Eledge and Tim Eledge, both of East Prairie, Mo., and Melvin Eledge of Michigan; two daughters, Sonya F. West of Tallulah and Lisa Campbell of Clinton, Ky.; two brothers, Sonny Patterson and Bill Patterson, both of East Prairie; two sisters, Jeanette Patterson of East Prairie and Elizabeth Patterson of Birmingham, Ala.; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah with the Rev. Raymond Gonzales officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

PEARL L. HOGAN

Pearl L. Hogan died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 74.

A homemaker, Mrs. Hogan was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Hogan; a son, Benjamin Parson; a daughter, Barbara Jean Parson; two brothers, Ervin Johnson and Willie Johnson Jr.; three sisters, Helen Gardner, Laura Dale Andrews and Flora Green; and her parents, Willie Johnson Sr. and Laura Johnson.

She is survived by three sons, John L. Parson Jr. and Willie Parson, both of Vicksburg, and George Parson of Detroit; four daughters, Annie Mae Wilson, Dorothy Stewart and Frances Parson, all of Vicksburg, and Carolyn Parson of Rolling Fork; five brothers, Freddie Johnson, J.D. Johnson, Oscar Walker and Randolph Johnson, all of Monroe, La., and Edward Johnson of Chicago; one sister, Dorothy Washington of Monroe; 26 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; and other relatives, including members of the Hogan, Atkins, Parson, Smith and Brown families.

WOODROW HUNTER

Woodrow Hunter died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. He was 73.

Mr. Hunter was a former employee of P.P. Williams and Bluff Janitorial Service. He served in the Army in World War II and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Hunter; a son, MacArthur Hunter; two brothers, Kevin Hunter and Franklin D. Hunter; a sister, Robbie Hunter; and his parents, Roman and Lucy Harris Hunter.

Survivors include four sons, Willie James Hunter, Glen Hunter and Emmitt Dean Hunter, all of Vicksburg, and Charles Edward Hunter of Seaside, Calif.; three daughters, Ernestine Hunter Williams, Patricia Hunter Brown and Ethel Hunter, all of Vicksburg; two stepdaughters, Deloris Lacey and Diane Green, both of Vicksburg; two brothers, Hoover Hunter of Jackson and Hardin Hunter of Chicago; two sisters, Georgia Henderson of Raymond and Margaret Jones of Jackson; 30 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

GEORGIA ELZADIE JONES LINDSEY

PORT GIBSON Georgia Elzadie Jones Lindsey died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at Claiborne County Hospital. She was 97.

Mrs. Lindsey was a former member of St. Paul Methodist Church and had been a member of Greater St. Mark M.B. Church for more than 60 years. She served as a deaconess and group captain and was a member of the Restless Four. She also was a Sunday school member.

Mrs. Lindsey worked as a beautician for a number of years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Molly Jones; her husband, Mose Lindsey; a daughter, Myrtle Cornish; a brother, Mack Jones; and two sisters, Virgia Mae Tarleton and Willa Caleton Branch.

Survivors include a daughter, Frankie Hedrick of Dallas; a sister, Mattie Jones-Parker of Port Gibson; two grandsons, Warren Cornish of Seattle, Wash., and Nicholas Hedrick of Dallas; a granddaughter, Nan Jackson of Houston, Texas; five great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends, including members of the Kemp, Lipscomb, Ross, Brown and Starks families.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Greater St. Mark M.B. Church with the Rev. Leon Howard officiating, assisted by the Rev. Eddie Walls. Burial will follow at Scott’s Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 today at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Port Gibson and from 8:30 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

HENRY SWEEZER JR.

Henry Sweezer Jr. died today, Sept. 7, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 87.

Mr. Sweezer was retired. He was a member of Mount Ararat M.B. Church and a Navy veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Priscilla Sweezer; two brothers, George Sweezer and John Sweezer; one sister, Corrine Judge; and his parents, Henry Sweezer Sr. and Corrine Sweezer.

He is survived by a son, Tony Sweezer of Vicksburg; a stepson, Gabriel Stewart of Gulfport; one sister, Katie Mae Sweezer of Vicksburg; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

MILDRED TAYLOR

Mildred “Curl” Taylor died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 81.

A homemaker, Mrs. Taylor was born in Melwood, Ark. She was of the Methodist faith.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bell Hamlin Smith; her father, Fred Lawrence Smith; one sister, Virgie Tillman; and five brothers, Bob Smith, Carl Smith, Edward Smith, Herman Smith and Lawrence Smith.

She is survived by her husband, Leroy Taylor of Vicksburg; two daughters, Angela Stephens of Vicksburg and Verona Taylor of Ruston, La.; one brother, Donald Smith of Shreveport; two sisters, Thelma Holley of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Maxine Johnson of Shreveport; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday, La., with Mark Rowlen officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Natchez.

Visitation will be from noon Saturday until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Harry Ball, Ed Claypool, Freddie Smith, Lawrence Smith Jr., Johnny Tillman and Scott Zingery.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Abdul Bahro, Dr. Walter Johnston, Dr. Lee Voulters and the ICU nursing staff of the fourth floor at Vicksburg Medical Center.
