[9/23/01]A Vicksburg man was killed Saturday night when his vehicle rolled over on Warrenton Road near its intersection with U.S. 61 South.

Tommy Freeman, 48, 198 Mop Lane, died at 7:50 at ParkView Regional Medical Center from injuries he sustained after he lost control of his Ford Bronco while heading south on Warrenton Road around 5:54 p.m. Saturday, Lt. David Beard of the Vicksburg Police Department said.

The Bronco flipped four times and came to rest upside down after Freeman was ejected and landed 40 feet from the vehicle, Beard said.

Beard said a cause for the accident has not been determined, and an autopsy was scheduled for today at Mississippi Mortuary in Pearl.

Two other wrecks were reported to Vicksburg Police throughout the day Saturday.

About 30 minutes before Freeman’s wreck, one was reported on Candee Street, off Drummond Street, where a young driver ran into three parked cars.

Sgt. Robert Jackson said Demtria Datson, 15, 923 Polk St., was headed west on Candee when she saw a child on a bicycle in the middle of the road and swerved to miss him, she told police.

Datson’s 1992 Toyota hit a white 1990 Oldsmobile and then a 1993 Mercury, which then hit a 1995 Nissan, Jackson said.

No injuries were reported.

Jackson said Datson was cited for driving without a license, driving without insurance and no tag.

Two Ruston, La., people were involved in a wreck reported at 3:30 p.m., Jackson said.

Candice Lachowsky, 22, 148 Heather Lane, Ruston, La., was driving a Dodge, and Clinton Lachowsky, no age available, 107 Tally, who was in a Mitsubishi Eclipse, were traveling west on Interstate 20 when a Ford Ranger collided with a Cadillac, both of them also traveling west on I-20 in front of the Lachowsky vehicles. No injuries were reported.

The impact caused Candice Lachowsky’s vehicle to hit the Ranger, which in turn caused the Eclipse to hit the Dodge, Jackson said.

He said the driver of the Ranger and the Cadillac continued traveling west after the wreck. No citations were issued, he said.
