EDITH B. STEPHENS

Edith B. Stephens died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 83.

A native of Troy, N.Y., Mrs. Stephens graduated from Russell Sage College in 1940. She had lived in Vicksburg since 1945. She was a member of Hawkins United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey W. Stephens; and a grandson, Stephen C. Stephens.

Survivors include two sons, Aubrey W. Stephens Jr. of Lorman and William B. “Bill” Stephens of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Mitchell Hedgepeth officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the service today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Lee Stephens, Steven Anderson, William B. Stephens Jr., Miles Henderson, Troy Nugent and Tommy Lancaster.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Lee Giffin and Dr. Murray Whitaker.

MARTHA LEE TARNABINE

Martha Lee Tarnabine died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 65.

Born in Louisville, Mrs. Tarnabine had lived in Vicksburg since 1954. She graduated from Bond High School and Hinds Junior College’s School of Nursing. She had been employed at ParkView Regional Medical Center for 28 years.

She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Tarnabine Sr., and her parents, Golie and Margaret Jones.

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Branan of Vicksburg and Carolyn Tarnabine of New Orleans; two sons, Joe Tarnabine Jr. and Peter Tarnabine, both of Vicksburg; two stepsons, Larry Tarnabine and David Tarnabine, both of Vicksburg; three sisters, Mary Bottino of Vicksburg, Ann Loyd of Brandon and Ruby Wright of Louisville; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. James O’Riordan officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight with wake at 7 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Lee Wiles, David Loyd, Mark Loyd, Danny McDill, Shannon Hosemann and Kenny Haden.

Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Koestler and fifth-floor nurses at ParkView Regional Medical Center.
