LAURA JANE SMITH

PRENTISS Laura Jane “Coot” Smith died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at Prentiss Regional Hospital in Jefferson County. She was 101.

Mrs. Smith was a retired cattle farmer.

She is survived by her niece and adopted daughter, Irene Smith Cook of Old Hebron, Miss.; four grandchildren, Laura Cook Beiser of Clinton, Eleanor Cook Murphy of Old Hebron, Brab Cook of Flowers and Nancy Cook Winters of Cabot, Ark.; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Saulters Funeral Home in Prentiss. Burial will follow at New Hebron Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:30 until 9 tonight at the funeral home.

ELIZABETH WASHINGTON

Services for Elizabeth Washington will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home. Mrs. Washington died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. She was 86.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Ladies of Sodality. She was a retired nurse assistant and also worked in the cafeteria at St. Mary’s Catholic School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Agnes Washington; and a sister, Mary Washington.

She is survived by a cousin, Helen White of Vicksburg; and other relatives.

EARNESTINE DOBBINS FORD

Earnestine Dobbins Ford died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 58.

A homemaker, Mrs. Ford was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Annie Dobbins Russell, and a brother, Wilbur Russell.

Survivors include her husband, E.L. Ford; two sons, Charles Dobbins of Vicksburg and Will Earl Dobbins of Pine Bluff, Ark.; one daughter, Victoria D. Brown of Pine Bluff; one brother, James Russell of Converse, Texas; four sisters, Sarah Russell, Carolyn Thomas and Vanessa Russell, all of Vicksburg, and Johnnie Russell of Pine Bluff; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives, including members of the Robinson, Bland, McDaniel and Williams families of Vicksburg.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
