EARNESTINE DOBBINS FORD

Services for Earnestine Dobbins Ford will be at 1 p.m. Friday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Lane officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Ford died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 58.

A homemaker, Mrs. Ford was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Annie Dobbins Russell, and a brother, Wilbur Russell.

Survivors include her husband, E.L. Ford; two sons, Charles Dobbins of Vicksburg and Will Earl Dobbins of Pine Bluff, Ark.; one daughter, Victoria D. Brown of Pine Bluff; one brother, James Russell of Converse, Texas; four sisters, Sarah Russell, Carolyn Thomas and Vanessa Russell, all of Vicksburg, and Johnnie Russell of Pine Bluff; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives, including members of the Robinson, Bland, McDaniel and Williams families of Vicksburg.

DEWITT TURNER

Dewitt Turner died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 91.

A retired boilermaker, Mr. Turner was an Army veteran of World War II. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Zula Mae Turner.

He is survived by seven daughters, Johnnie Mae Turner of Houlka, Maggie Dee Swindle of Noxapater, Della Faye Wood of Gunnison, Joann Wallace of Memphis, Gladys Marie Greer of Olive Branch, Billie Katherine Adams of Marrero, La., and Debra Kaye Owens of Magnolia, Texas; one son, Herman D.

“Buddy” Turner of Vicksburg; 22 grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services were at 11 a.m. Monday at Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery in Houlka.

Pallbearers were Buddy Turner, Nathan Martin, Michael Martin, Merlin Victoriano, Shannon Pearson and Gary Turner.

Honorary pallbearers were Billy Owens, Michael Martin Jr., Tim Turner and Stanley Thorne Jr.

BENNIE H. WHITE

Bennie H. White died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, at his home. He was 71.

Mr. White worked in New Orleans with CSX Transportation Corp. for a number of years before returning to Vicksburg.

He was preceded in death by his mother, M.C. Woodson; his father, John Carey; and his stepfather, Randolph Woodson.

Survivors include one sister, Janice Ellis of Vicksburg; his stepmother, Leola Carey of Vicksburg; one aunt, Bobbie Yates of Vicksburg; one uncle, Melvin Branch of Vicksburg; and other relatives.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.
