JEANETTE VIRGINIA HOPKINS-REEVES

PORT GIBSON Jeanette Virginia Hopkins-Reeves died Thursday, Oct. 11, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 77.

Mrs. Reeves was a member of First Baptist Church of Port Gibson where she was a member of the mother board and the deacon wives club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Susie Smith-Hopkins; her sister, Sadie Early; and her brother Horace Hopkins Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Charlie M. Reeves of Lorman; three sons, Fred D. Reeves of Baton Rouge, Jimmie L. Reeves of Memphis and Michael O. Reeves of Lorman; four daughters, Katie Ruth Washington and Doris J. Davis, both of Port Gibson, Charlie Bell Smith of Fayette and Cheryl R. Rankin of Lorman; a sister, Susie Moore of Milwaukee, Wis.; 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. James Dorsey officiating. Burial will follow at McCay Cemetery in Russum under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 until the service Sunday at the church.

AUDREY VINCENT SCHAFF

Services for Audrey Vincent Schaff will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerard Hurley officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Schaff died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, at his home in Metairie, La. He was 91.

A native of Plaquemine, La., he had lived in Vicksburg for 62 years. He was one of three developers of Magnolia Mobile Homes Corp. in Vicksburg. He served as secretary-treasurer of Newpark Resources for eight years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George Schaff and Meredith Schaff; and a granddaughter, Marie Danielle Guichard.

Mr. Schaff is survived by his wife, Clara Callahan Schaff of Metairie; three daughters, Marian Theresa Beall of Columbus, Jeanne Marie Guichard of Metairie and Mary Claire Maggio of College Station, Texas; one son, Dr. David C. Schaff of Nacogdoches, La.; one sister, Anne Jones of Omaha, Neb.; seven grandchildren; and other relatives, including Rosemary Schaff of Vicksburg and Anne Jones of Omaha, Neb.

Pallbearers will be Sean-Vincent Maggio, Catherine M. Schaff, Clare M. Guichard, Damien Robert Maggio, David E. Beall, George M. Schaff and Stephen D. Guichard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Guichard, Robert Maggio and Joe Beall.

James Robert Swartz

James Robert Swartz of Vicksburg died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at his home. He was 76.

Mr. Swartz was a retired dry keel operator at the Anderson-Tully lumber mill, having served for 45 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan Swartz Sr. and Annie Johnson Swartz; a brother, Dan Swartz Jr.; and a sister, Bertha Tolliver.

He is survived by Lorine King; four sons, James B. Swartz Jr. of Junction City, Kansas; and James E. Swartz, Charles E. Swartz and Willie H. Swartz, all of Vicksburg; two stepsons, Bubba Judge Jr. and Jimmy King, both of Vicksburg; two daughters, Dorothy Ware and Vivian Ware, both of Vicksburg; five stepdaughters, Mae Ruth Watson of Maywood, Ill., and Christine Bingham, Jacqueline Boykins, Chandra King and Melva Curry, all of Vicksburg; a brother, Roosevelt Swartz of Chicago; two sisters, Annie B. Adams and Ruby Swartz, both of Chicago; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
