Services for Laverne “LoLo” Allen will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Williams Funeral Service Chapel.

Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel.

Mrs. Allen died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 40.

A clerical worker for Dixie Plaza, Mrs. Allen was a member of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Kahee; and her mother, Mary E. Flowers Allen.

She is survived by her father, James L. Allen Sr. of Vicksburg; a son, Cedrick Allen of Vicksburg; her daughter, Latricia Allen of Memphis; six brothers, Freddie Amos, John Amos, Jeffery Amos and Ernest Allen, all of Vicksburg, Luster J. Amos Hill of Pittsburg, Calif., and James L. Allen Jr. of Dallas; four sisters, Rita Ivy and Gloria Meeks, both of Chicago, Janie Horton of Jackson and Shirley Gattison of Duluth, Ga.; four grandchildren; and other relatives.

JAMES RONALD BEARD

MEMPHIS James Ronald “Ronnie” Beard died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at his home in Memphis. He was 54.

Mr. Beard was an engineer for Canadian National Railroad.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Patty” Beard of Memphis; a son, Barry Beard of Cookeville, Tenn.; his mother, Bobbie Jean Harrod Beard of Vicksburg; a sister, Karen Denise Beard Smith of Crystal Springs; and three brothers, Jerry Wayne Beard and Donald Glen Beard, both of Vicksburg, and Robert Patrick Beard of Baton Rouge.

Visitation will be from 2 until 4 today at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Colon Research.

LADY GILL CORBAN

ROLLING FORK Lady Gill Corban died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was 66.

Mrs. Corban was born in Delta City and was reared in Tunica. She was a graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Junior College and Millsaps College.

A retired school teacher, Mrs. Corban was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rolling Fork and several community organizations.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Corban of Rolling Fork; three sons, Gil Corban of Greenville, Kevin Corban of Rolling Fork and John Corban of Starkville; two sisters, Mable Workman of Sledge, Miss., and Ella Buckley of Denton, Texas; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Rolling Fork with the Rev. Mike Labasso officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork.

Visitation will be from 4 until 6 today at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.

Pallbearers will be Joe Buckley, Dennis Buckley, Bob Workman, Keith Smith, Baskin Perry, Ryan Grayson, Clark Carter and James Geoghegan.

Memorials may be made to Rolling Fork United Methodist Church or Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital.

SHELBY E. CURTIS

UTICA Shelby E. Curtis died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at his home in Utica. He was 90.

Mr. Curtis was a lifelong resident of Utica and a self-employed carpenter.

He was a member of the Old Whitaker Hunting Club and Midway Church of Christ.

Mr. Curtis was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Curtis.

He is survived by a son, Glynn Curtis of Utica; a daughter, Betty Coward of Utica; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica with the Rev. Donnie Cain officiating.

Burial will follow at Utica Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 until 6 today at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica.

Pallbearers will be Billy Byrnes, Jimmy Flowers, Jackie Ross, Harold Mobley, Billy Curtis, Harry Turgeay Jr. and Rayburn May.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Kenneth Vaughn, Bob Templeton, Hamp Hutchins, Robert Dowe, Everette Knight, R.W. Carraway and Lamar Broome.

Memorials may be made to the Midway Church of Christ or Rebul Academy.
