Services for Tom C. Harris Jr. will be at noon Wednesday at Travelers Rest M.B. Church with the Rev. Thomas Bernard officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service at the church.

Mr. Harris died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at his home. He was 68.

He retired from the Vicksburg Police Department as a lieutenant. He was a member of Travelers Rest M.B. Church where he was in the choir.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of American Legion Tyner-Ford Post No. 213.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommie Harris Sr. and Beatrice Wilson.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl H. Harris; one daughter, Kimberly Watts of Vicksburg; one brother, McKinley Harris Sr. of Vicksburg; two grandchildren, Khristopher Norfort and Kordell Norfort; and other relatives, including Gertrude Huell.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

WILBUR H. RANEY SR.

SHERIDAN, Ark. Wilbur H. Raney Sr. died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at Hot Springs Memorial Hospital in Malvern, Ark. He was 70.

Born in Vicksburg, Mr. Raney had lived in Sheridan, Ark., for the past four years. He retired from the Warren County Highway Department. He attended Shiloh M.B. Church in Vicksburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ione Raney; and a son, Wilbur H. Raney Jr.

He is survived by two daughters, Debbie Mitchell of Sheridan and Dianna Miles of Moss Point; three stepdaughters, Brenda Raney of Rayville, La., Lola Greason of Shreveport and Nadine Wilson of Greenville; three stepsons, Charles Tatum of Mobile, Ala., Jack Davidson of Edwards and Jimmy Davidson of Selma, Ala.; two brothers, Victor Raney of Texarkana, Ark., and Robert Raney of Vicksburg; a sister, Annie Lee Lum of Vicksburg; and six grandchildren, 12 stepgrandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Danny Hill officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Steve Ward, Eric Boone, Thomas Miles, Jimmy Miles, Michael Miles and Wilbur Miles.
